There may be many different things that have kept you from receiving your Master’s degree like having a full time job or raising kids. Returning to classes shouldn’t be a hassle. There are many ways to receive your education now—including online classes. UNC’s Communication and Journalism programs are combining and conquering the online world. With online classes you don’t have to drop your already established and busy life to get an education. Having classes online teaches you many different aspects about yourself and learning. Below, are pros about online learning.
1. Get a Unique Experience: The Communication and Journalism departments are combining their programs for graduates to get a unique blend of the two subjects. Students can choose between two emphases: Leadership Focus or Strategic Communication. In the classes, Communication will have its theories applied into Journalism, creating a new program.
2. More Career Opportunities: In certain fields, Bachelor Degrees can only get you so far. Maybe you want to get that promotion or expand your opportunities? Masters degrees help out with that. A higher education has always led to a higher paying salary and more promotions. Online classes can teach lessons that jobs look for like handling time management, how people handle challenges and handling technology.
3. Flexibility: Students can operate on their own time. School work becomes flexible around a person’s already busy schedule. If a person focuses better in the day, they can do their work then or if they are a night owl, they can do their work then. This allows for people to not uproot their life and just fit in learning.
4. Learning Technical Skills: On the subject of technology, people who take online classes have more experience with technology. Now, most of the workforce has some connection to technology—Slack, Zoom, and other social medias—to keep in touch with customers or coworkers. With students having to navigate their classes online, it helps them learn more about technology which will inevitably be needed in the workforce.
5. No commuting: No one wants to drive on snowy days in Colorado. With online classes, graduates do not have to commute to UNC anymore. They can get their education online in the comfort of their own home. Students do not have to plan their days out along with commuting times. Graduates will always attend classes via participating in discussion or Zoom classes.
Take these reasons of online classes and learn from them. Online classes are easier than expected with a little support and motivation. I hope these pros help decide on whether you further your education. Your future is just a couple clicks away!
