Dr. Sherilyn Marrow
Dr. Sherilyn Marrow is a professor, therapist and resilience researcher. She has been teaching for 25 years. She is currently teaching at the University of Northern Colorado. She is a family communication therapist who helps people gain their confidence. From this book journey, she is now a resilience researcher and provides help to people who need it.
Pour Me a Divorce and Pour Me a Divorce: Resilience & Self-Care Workbook are a book bundle about overcoming divorce with an alcoholic. This is Dr. Marrow’s first published book. Due to the complex subject, the book took her 6 years to write it. Her husband also believed that although it was difficult to be in that situation and write about, he stated on his death bed, “Please tell our story, Sherilyn, it will help a lot of people.”
Dr. Marrow and her husband married in 1982. Their marriage lasted 29 years. Dr. Marrow loved her husband so much. She stood by him as long as she could until she knew she had to leave for her own well-being. “He was the character I loved. We were a dynamite couple. It worked for the most part until I had to be the designated driver,” Dr. Marrow acknowledged. With all the lows, Dr. Marrow admits that there were so many highs in their relationship.
In her bundle, Dr. Marrow emphasizes resilience. Resilience to Dr. Marrow means that she has “recovered personally, professionally, and financially, from living through a very complicated and passionate long-term relationship.” In her workbook, Dr. Marrow has “6 Core Powers of Resilience.” Dr. Marrow believes that the Power of Self-Empowerment was the hardest for her to overcome because it is about working yourself internally. However, she believes it results in immediate change. By releasing these books, she hopes that other people can also learn from her.
