On my walk through my neighborhood,
I did not think of you.
I thought of the catastrophe of the world
until I noticed Mother Nature hard at work.
She creates her beauty with such elegance.
The flowers are flourishing this spring,
blooming for no one but themselves.
They have waited all winter to sprout their heavenly hues.
Your stupidly perfect smile takes over my train of thought.
You never should have left.
I remember what you told me that night.
We held hands for the first time. The stars smiled down at us.
“I am not a speck of the universe. I am yours,” you whispered.
I believed you and let you break my heart.
The flowers are flourishing this spring,
An abundance of rain and sunshine
Granted this flower to grow to her potential.
I did not think of you.
