I.
I wake up on the first wintery day of the year.
The blustering winds start to commence
with the sound of the snow knocking on the roof.
II.
On a peaceful February morning,
The snow gathered on the porch.
The warmth of my blankets and the glowing fireplace
I fall back asleep.
III.
The first step out into the wilderness.
The kids run fast with their sleds,
It falls continuously and harmonious.
IV.
Walking through mountains of snow,
I step knee-high in white powder.
I shiver.
V.
Large jackets, snow boots, scarves, and beanies.
My mother tells me this list of items I need
To brave this frosty season.
VI.
The angry snow weather came bustling through.
Very unexpected, it banged on the shutters
Like someone demanding to come in.
VII.
News stations tell us to stay inside.
It has become unfriendly.
The snow swallows our house.
We feel like prisoners.
VIII.
Violent blizzard approaches.
It sounds like a thousand guns firing,
The wind whistles.
The children are scared.
IX.
Weather is different for everyone,
For me, it does not bring security.
Flurries bring sadness and frozen fingertips.
X.
I feel cold under so many layers
The white fluff is unforgiving but
I have to leave, but once I am inside again,
It has become calm again.
