In the realm of education, philosophy serves as the guiding light which illuminates the path for many transformative learning experiences. I believe that each student has their own unique learning style. As an educator I am constantly working to cultivate curiosity and illuminate the path to engaging learning experiences, all while ensuring understanding and growth within my students. Due to education being a unique and individual pathway of talents, passions, and potential, it is key not to take a one-size-fits-all approach when working with students. I believe that all students deserve a learning environment where they will be nurtured, exposed to new ideas, and challenged academically in order to reach their full potential.
As a teacher, I am providing a learning environment for my students which encourages critical thinking which is a key part in a strong educational philosophy. Throughout questioning, analyzing and synthesizing information present, students are establishing their educational foundation that will travel with them throughout their entire career as a student. Students are encouraged to be curious, cultivate knowledge and expand on what they already know, and most importantly learn how to take their newfound education with them into the real world.
Teachers need to act as the student's educational guide and lead them into new ways of thinking in order to expand their learning abilities. By guiding the students to be naturally curious about their learning environment and the curriculum they are being taught, the student will thrive academically. Differentiating the curriculum to meet each child's individual learning needs allows for equality within the classroom to and for each student to receive the education they deserve. Being able to teach a child something new is a very rewarding feeling, but watching them discover and use the skills they have been taught to gather more information is unremarkable.
In conclusion, my educational philosophy is strongly rooted in the belief that education is not a destination, but a journey which includes self growth, discovery, and empowerment. As a teacher, I take great pride in my profession as someone who is shaping the minds of our future doctors, teachers, lawyers, nurses, and any other professions my students end up in. I strive to work hard to ensure that when my students leave and move onto their next journeys, they are critical thinkers who strive to help others, and become leaders. I believe that each child deserves a teacher who will always be there for them and who is willing to provide social emotional support for the student while enriching their brains. As stated by Rita Pearson, "Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them." I aspire to empower students to reach their full potential, contribute meaningfully to society and to become compassionate, informed, and engaged citizens.
