Biography

Julia Qian (aka Meijun) is an Academic Dean at the Zhejiang University International Business School and a Fellow at the Wharton Financial Institution Center. She was a Professor of Finance at the Australian National University, a consultant economist for Asian Development Bank, and a visiting scholar at the Becker and Friedman Institute at the University of Chicago. Meijun' research interests include Financial system and economic development in China; Alternative finance; Managerial incentives in state capitalism; Institutional Investment, governance and performance; Diversity and corporate performance; Infrastructure and productivity. Her research has appeared in top-tier academic journals including Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Management Science, and Journal of Financial Intermediation. Her works have been presented to regulators including The Stock Exchange Committee, Federal Reserve Banks, People’s Bank of China, The Capital Market Board of Turkey, World Economy Forum, and The Wilson Center. Her works are highly cited with 6000+ citations by google scholar and 2000+ by Scopus. Julia currently serves on the review board of the Journal of International Business Studies, as an Editor of the China Accounting and Finance Review, and a Subject Editor of the Emerging Market Review. She also serves on the board of two asset management companies.
