Biography
Professor Meijun Qian (aka Julia) is currently the Chief Fellow at the Research Institute, People’s Bank of China, a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University, and works periodically as an external expert for the International Monetary Fund. Before returning to China, Professor Qian was a tenured full professor of Finance, Academic Board Steering Committee, Executive Director of the China-in-the-World Center at the Australian National University and a Fellow at the Wharton Financial Institute Center, University of Pennylvania. She had also worked as a short-term consultant economist for the Asian Development Bank, and as the Academic Dean of the Zhejiang University International University. Professor Qian is an expert on comparative financial systems, economic development, financial institution risk and regulation, financing and governance of firms, international capital flows and risks; focusing on the cross-economy differences in financial system and how institutions, cultures, social structures, and technological advancement influence behaviors and outcomes of firms, institutions, investors, and regulators. Her research output are widely published in top economics, finance, and management journals (e.g., JFE, MS, JIBS, JFQA, RF, etc. UTD24, ABS4*, ABS4), won several research awards from American’s financial industry and regulators (e.g., SEC,S&P, NASDAQ). She serves as an editor, associate editor, and review board for several international top journals (e.g., JIBS UTD24, EMR JCRQ1, JBF A etc.). Professor Qian obtained her PhD from Boston College and Bachelor’s from Peking University.
