Real healthy aging starts from within.
Inside every cell of your body.
Energy and healing start there too.
There is a personal story behind why I pay attention to this. My full book and a free bonus sample are waiting at the end of this guide.
But first. Here is the guide. 🌿
Number 7 is the most important one.
🚶 1. Movement every opportunity you get
✅ Movement after eating
✅ Stairs instead of elevator
✅ Park further away
✅ Walk during phone calls
✅ Stand instead of sit
✅ Any movement
✅ Any time
✅ Any opportunity
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that runs throughout your body. It carries waste products and toxins away from your tissues and plays a central role in your immune function. Unlike your cardiovascular system which has your heart as a pump the lymphatic system has no pump of its own. It relies entirely on body movement to circulate. Every time your muscles contract they squeeze the lymphatic vessels and push fluid through the system. Stillness slows it down. Movement keeps it flowing.
💡This is why any movement at any time matters. A short walk after eating. Taking the stairs. Standing up from your desk. Every small movement contributes to keeping your lymphatic system functioning the way it was designed to.
💪 Muscle matters as you age: Adding light resistance to your routine can help maintain muscle mass over time. Muscle supports your metabolism, balance, bone density and independence. Research suggests we naturally lose muscle mass with age but consistent resistance activity can slow that process significantly.
💡You do not need a gym. You do not need heavy weights. Bodyweight movements, resistance bands, light dumbbells, carrying groceries, or even getting up from a chair repeatedly all count as resistance activity.
Note: Start small and consult a local fitness professional before adding anything new, especially if you have any existing conditions.
🥩 2. Protein and Beneficial Fats
Grass fed beef and pasture raised eggs for me. Not just for protein but for glycine, beneficial fats, and fat soluble vitamins.
Plant based: spirulina, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, tempeh for protein. Avocado, olive oil, and walnuts for beneficial fats.
Why protein matters more than most people realize: Protein is the raw material your body uses to build and repair skin, hair, nails, connective tissue, enzymes, hormones and immune cells. Research suggests protein needs may actually increase with age. Many women over 50 are consuming less than they need at exactly the time their ability to use it efficiently begins to decline.
💡 Glycine is one of the most abundant amino acids in the body yet rarely discussed in mainstream nutrition. It is the primary amino acid in collagen which makes up roughly 30 percent of all protein in the human body and forms the structural foundation of your skin, joints, tendons and gut lining. Modern diets tend to be low in glycine because we eat primarily muscle meat. Bone broth, slow cooked meats and organ meats are among the richest natural sources.
Monounsaturated - avocado, olive oil, almonds, macadamia nuts. Associated with cardiovascular health and reduced inflammation.
Polyunsaturated - Omega-3s from fatty fish, walnuts, flaxseed and chia seeds support brain health and reduce inflammation. Omega-6s are necessary but modern diets consume far too many which can tip toward inflammation.
Saturated - from quality sources: grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs, grass fed butter, coconut oil. Provide fat soluble vitamins and support hormone production.
What to limit - trans fats and heavily refined vegetable oils like corn, soybean and canola which oxidize during processing and are high in omega-6s.
💡 Why beneficial fats? Fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K require dietary fat to be absorbed. Without adequate beneficial fats these vitamins pass through unused regardless of how much you consume. Beneficial fats also support hormone production, brain function and cell membrane integrity.
Note: Dietary needs vary by individual. Consult a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for guidance specific to your situation.
🫐 3. Eat a wide variety of foods and spices
Your gut microbiome is fed by diversity. Polyphenols, fiber, antioxidants, adaptogens and many other compounds each play a different role in supporting it. No single food covers everything. Include fermented foods when you can. Season with more than salt and pepper. Berries, leafy greens, legumes, herbs, spices, and fermented foods like yogurt, kimchi or kefir all contribute something different.
💡 Why diversity matters. Research suggests the number of different plant foods you eat each week is one of the strongest predictors of gut microbiome diversity. Diversity in what you eat creates diversity in your gut which creates resilience across almost every system in your body.
Polyphenols - Found in berries, dark chocolate, green tea, olive oil, herbs and spices. They feed beneficial gut bacteria and have antioxidant properties that help protect cells from oxidative stress. Colorful plant foods are your best source.
Fermented foods - Yogurt, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut, miso and tempeh introduce beneficial live bacteria directly into your gut. Regular consumption has been associated with increased microbiome diversity and reduced inflammation. Even small amounts eaten consistently make a difference.
Adaptogens and herbs - Turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, ashwagandha and others have been studied for their ability to support the body's response to stress. Adding a wider variety of herbs and spices to your cooking is one of the simplest upgrades you can make to your diet.
Fiber - Fiber feeds your gut bacteria. Vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, seeds and fruit all provide different types of fiber that feed different bacterial populations. Variety in fiber sources matters as much as total amount.
💡 Gut bacteria are little factories producing vitamins your body actually uses. Feed yours well.
Note: If you have digestive conditions or food sensitivities consult a healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes.
☀️ 4. Morning and Midday Sun with SPF
Go outside first thing. No sunglasses. Before phone screens. Morning light supports your body's natural cortisol rhythm and helps establish your energy pattern for the day. Later get a short burst of midday sun for vitamin D. Then mineral SPF if you are staying outside. Zinc oxide or titanium dioxide only.
💡 Morning light and vitamin D sunlight are two completely different things. Most people do not know this.
Morning light triggers a healthy cortisol pulse that energizes your morning and sets a timer for melatonin release 12 to 16 hours later. Going outside without sunglasses matters because glass filters the specific wavelengths your brain is looking for.
Vitamin D sunlight requires UVB rays which are only present when the sun is high in the sky between 10am and 2pm. Morning light does not produce meaningful vitamin D regardless of how long you stay outside.
💡Mineral SPF using zinc oxide or titanium dioxide sits on top of the skin rather than being absorbed. Generally considered the safer option for daily long term use.
Note: Sun exposure needs vary by skin tone, location and season. Consult a healthcare professional for guidance specific to your situation.
💧 5. Water Before Coffee
Large glass before caffeine. Every single morning. Add lemon and a pinch of sea salt. Water is a necessity to replenish cells, circulate nutrients and expell waste.
Why before coffee? Caffeine is a diuretic that increases fluid loss. Starting your day with coffee before water means your first act of the day is further dehydrating a body that has already gone 7 to 9 hours without fluids. Hydrating first takes less than two minutes and changes the starting point of your entire day.
Why lemon? Vitamin C and liver support first thing in the morning. It also makes plain water more palatable which makes the habit easier to maintain.
Why sea salt? A small pinch provides trace minerals including sodium, magnesium and potassium that help your cells actually absorb the water you are drinking rather than passing it through. The same principle behind electrolyte drinks without the sugar or artificial ingredients.
How much overall? Aim for 2 to 3 litres through the day. Skin, energy, digestion, joint lubrication and cognitive function are all affected by hydration status long before you feel thirsty. Thirst is a late signal not an early warning.
💡 Morning hunger is often actually thirst. The body cannot always tell the difference.
Note: Individual hydration needs vary based on body size, activity level, climate and health conditions.
🧊 6. Something Cold with pressure on the Face
Two minutes every morning. Chilled spoon, ice roller, frozen cucumber or cold water splash. Always move downward toward the lymph nodes in the neck. Never upward.
💡 The lymph nodes in your neck are among the most important filtration points in your body. This is why direction matters.
Why cold? Cold temperature causes blood vessels to constrict temporarily. When the cold is removed they dilate again. This repeated constriction and dilation acts like a pump for circulation in the face. It reduces puffiness by moving stagnant fluid out of facial tissues and brings fresh oxygenated blood to the surface. The result is visibly reduced inflammation and a more awake appearance within minutes.
Why pressure? Gentle pressure combined with movement manually stimulates lymphatic drainage in the face. The lymphatic vessels in facial tissue are very close to the surface and respond to even light consistent pressure. This is the principle behind gua sha which has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries and is now supported by research on lymphatic drainage and microcirculation.
Why downward? Lymphatic fluid in the face drains downward toward the lymph nodes in the neck. Moving your tool upward works against the natural drainage direction and can push fluid back into facial tissue rather than out of it. Always finish strokes at the neck where the lymph nodes can filter and clear the fluid.
Tools that work? Chilled spoon kept in the freezer overnight. Ice roller. Frozen cucumber slices. Cold water splashed and pressed gently with hands. Gua sha tool kept in the refrigerator. The tool matters less than the temperature, the pressure and the direction.
💡 This habit costs almost nothing. A spoon from your freezer is as effective as an expensive tool if the technique is correct.
Note: Avoid applying ice directly to skin for extended periods. If you have rosacea or broken capillaries consult a dermatologist before starting cold facial therapy.
😴 7. A Good Night's Sleep and NAD+ First Thing in the Morning.
Would it surprise you to know that sleep is the most important habit on this entire list?
Not movement. Not food. Not sunlight. Sleep.
But here is the part most people miss. Sleep only delivers on its promise when the other six habits are working for it. Movement keeps your lymphatic system circulating so your body is not fighting inflammation at night. Food gives your cells the raw materials for repair. Morning light sets the cortisol and melatonin rhythm that makes deep sleep possible. Hydration keeps cellular processes running efficiently. The cold face habit supports circulation and drainage. Every habit on this list is essentially preparation for what happens when you close your eyes.
💡Sleep is where your body does its most significant repair work. Skin regenerates. Hormones rebalance. Memories consolidate. Immune function resets. The brain clears metabolic waste through the glymphatic system which is almost entirely active only during sleep. None of this happens adequately without sufficient quality sleep. And none of it happens at full capacity without the other six habits supporting it.
Protect this window every night without exception.
🔋 NAD+ is a molecule your cells have always depended on. Research suggests levels decline significantly with age affecting energy metabolism and cellular repair. Movement, food, hydration, sunlight and cold therapy all support your cells through the day. Sleep is where your cells cash it all in. NAD+ is what supports the energy your cells need to make that repair work happen.
💡Supporting NAD+ levels has become one of the most researched areas in healthy aging science.

Health Tells:
A Life Spent Learning What My Body Already Knew
This is a pre-release shared with a small test audience.
Some of what is in here I have never shared publicly before.
For Men and Women. 🙂
A supplement can genuinely help. But the most meaningful thing you can do is learn to understand your own body.
That is what this book is about. Not a diet plan. Not a protocol. A journey through the small signals your body sends every day that most people never notice. The little tells that individually mean nothing but together tell a very big story about your health.
Pre-release price available now.
Use code GLOW25 for 25% off. This price ends at public release.
Prefer the details without the stories?
I wrote the Manual for people who want the reasoning without the journey. Everything I learned about reading the tells my body was sending. The frameworks I developed for thinking through all the health noise out there and figuring out what actually applies to me. Same depth as the book. Different format. And I am giving it away free.
