An Urban-Indigenous Quantitative Perspective

Aŋpétu wašté (Good day!)
Welcome to my google site, feel free to have a look around. I'm Joel Steele, a Gen-Xer with a PhD in Quantitative Psychology and a penchant for programming. Identity wise, I'm a mix of both colonizer and colonized in that I have both Indigenous (Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate) and European ancestry. Currently, I work as an Associate Professor in the Department of Indigenous Health at the University of North Dakota, the first doctoral program focused on indigenous health in the country! I also hold an adjunct appointment at Oregon Health & Science University where I work in the Oregon Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (OADRC).
My scholarship focuses on advanced quantitative methods for dyadic and longitudinal data as well as the use of technology for the study of Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD). I enjoy teaching and have taught classes and workshops on a variety of quantitative topics over the years. I'm always willing to share what I know, so this site serves as a common resource for students, colleagues, collaborators, and friends alike to find documents and data related to quantitative topics.
The resources page has various technical documents that cover different aspects of statistical modeling and computer programming as well as example data for replicating some of the analyses presented. The hope is that visitors can find something useful.
