For those gymnasts who surpass our Advanced level and are interested in joining our team programs.
Pre-team gymnasts are required to attend practices at least 2 times per week. They will learn the skills necessary to compete at Level 4 with our GIJO team program.
Jr. Wildkit Gymnastics competes in the AAU/GIJO program. Illinois coaches created the GIJO program in order to provide an alternate experience to USAG where every child can feel successful. Being a GIJO competitor provides a plethora of experiences to our gymnasts who participate in the program. Attendance is mandatory for building strength and endurance and to ensure safety and success.
We begin competition at LEVEL 4
Team practices run 2 - 3 hours depending on level. Gymnasts are required to attend a mandatory 2 practices a week, although higher attendance is encouraged. During practices we will work skill & routine development along with adhering to a strict conditioning program that builds strength, endurance, flexibility, and stamina. It is essential for our competitors to be disciplined in all aspects of the sport to move up to the next level of competition.
Being a competitive gymnast requires a commitment by the entire family, therefore entry into this program must be agreed upon by the Jr Wildkit coaching staff, parents, and gymnasts. We build strong young ladies and gentlemen and prepare them for competition in the AAU/GIJO program. They will also be well prepared to join their high school teams when the time arrives.
For the safety of the gymnasts and staff, all gymnasts must be invited to join or move up a level on the Jr Wildkit Team. Gymnasts must test into each level at the start of the season. Testing will be based on skill level, strength, endurance, and maturity.
We welcome and encourage gymnasts who do not make the team to join our pre-team program. For more information, please contact Coach Meghan Koons or Coach Frank Erwin.
