During the late 19^th and early 20^th century, the Progressive movement became concerned about wealth being collected in fewer and fewer large corporations. In cartoons, the large Standard Oil Corporation was sometimes drawn as an octopus. This 1904 image was published in the humor magazine Puck and is called “Next!” What do you think the artist is trying to say?
