What and Where: Rock Climbing – Red River Gorge, Slade, Kentucky
Description: A 4-day climbing adventure to the famous Red River Gorge — home to some of the best sport climbing in the United States. Participants will experience a variety of climbing routes suited for all levels while camping in the scenic hills of Kentucky.

DAY 1 – Friday
8:00 AM: Meet at Calvin; depart by 8:30 AM
Stop for road meal en route
4:30–5:00 PM: Arrive at Middle Fork Campground (Slade, KY)
Set up camp, make dinner, overview of climbing plan
DAY 2 – Saturday
7:30 AM: Breakfast
8:30 AM: Depart for crag (5–30 min drive depending on crag)
Climb all day; pack lunch to eat at crag
4:30–5:00 PM: Return to camp, make dinner, relax
DAY 3 – Sunday
7:30 AM: Breakfast
8:30 AM: Depart for different crag
Climb all day; pack lunch to eat at crag
4:30–5:00 PM: Return to camp, dinner, fireside debrief
DAY 4 – Monday
7:30 AM: Pack up camp, breakfast
9:00 AM: Half-day of climbing
2:00 PM: Depart for Grand Rapids
10:00–11:00 PM: Arrive back at Calvin
Climbing involves exposure, belaying, and movement on uneven terrain.
All climbers must be belay certified and are encouraged to be lead certified.
1–2 support leaders will manage safety checks and route setup.
First aid kits, radios/phones, and climbing rescue gear will be on hand.
All participants must wear helmets and follow leader instructions at all times.
