PROBLEM \\
We were tasked to come up with a sustainable solution, by turning old items into new, sustainable products. We were put into multi-disciplinary groups, which included myself for graphics, two product designers and a fashion designer, and were asked to assign ourselves roles such as managing director, market researcher, brand manager and designer. I was assigned managing director and brand manager for this project.
SOLUTION \\
The sustainable product that we ended up making, was a working vinyl coffee table, which was made from old turntables and items such as suitcases. As the focal point of the product was the vinyl, I decided the brand identity should be heavily influenced by it, so I created a logo that showcased both the name, and the main focus of the product, while using a retro colour palette.
SOLUTION \\
The product design team eventually created a working prototype of our product, with the use of old discarded items such as a vinyl player and suitcase, that otherwise would've been thrown out. Our working prototype was met with positive responses during our presentation pitch.
CONCEPTS \\
As I mentioned, the main focal point of the brand identity is the vinyl aspect, as the coffee table itself could be made out of any product that has a flat surface. So with this in mind majority of the inspiration images I looked at were retro vinyl related, which includes the colour palette.
