Abstract
This paper studies the impact and role that a by-zone decontamination policy has on student performance. Using a staggered difference-in-differences and instrumental variable, I find that positive effects on student performance arise in the early years, but ultimately vanish. These results show not only the importance of environmental policies in the formation of human capital, but also evidences that policy re-enforcement and monitoring is highly-relevant to see effects at the long term.
