Jordan Gibbs is a native of Columbia, SC. He is the son of Michael and Davita Gibbs, and the proud grandson of David and Martha Hopkins of Columbia, SC, as well as the late Deacon William Gibbs and Joan Gibbs of Charleston, SC. From an early age, Jordan has demonstrated an anointing on his life, walking faithfully with God even as a young child. His deep love for worship was evident as soon as he could walk and talk, and it has only grown stronger over the years.
At the age of eight, Jordan made the life-changing decision to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior, marking the beginning of his spiritual journey. His calling to ministry became clear, and on February 26, 2023, he took a significant step forward by preaching his initial sermon and was licensed at Red Hill Baptist Church in Gadsden, SC, under the leadership of Rev. Donnie C. Chambers. Jordan’s dedication to his church extends beyond preaching, as he also serves as the devoted drummer for the youth ministry at Red Hill Baptist Church, using his musical talents to glorify God.
Now 15 years old, Jordan was a 9th grader at Westwood High School in Columbia, SC, where he continues to excel academically. He is enrolled in the Studio D Magnet Program, based on Stanford University’s ‘d. school’, where he challenges himself by taking sophomore-level classes and studying cybersecurity. His intellectual curiosity and hard work have not gone unnoticed—Richland School District Two has recognized Jordan for his outstanding achievements, including his Rube Goldberg project, his skills in drumming, and his technical assistance. In addition to these accomplishments, Jordan has been honored with the President’s Educational Award for Academic Excellence, a testament to his dedication to both his studies and personal growth.
Despite his many talents and accolades, Jordan remains humble and grounded in his faith. He often reflects on his favorite saying: "God gave you the gift of 86,400 seconds today, have you used one to say thank you?" His guiding scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6, captures his approach to life: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
