Entrepreneurial Years:

• Genzink Speed:  Engine rebuild shop that I started. I taught myself a lot about business when I was 19-21 years old. 1997-1999

• Innotec:  I worked here for 1 year,  I learned the good and bad of flat management.  1999

• Protech Automotive Services:  Founded Protech, I functioned as a mechanic, owner, and manager for the first 10 years and then built a great team, so that I was able to pursue other ventures for the next 10 years. 2000 - 2020

• JAG Real Estate:  Bought, split up and renovated a 12,000 SQ. ft. commercial building.  2007

• Fresh Auto Detail:  Started it, sold it, still in operation today. 2010

• Tulip City Motor Mall: Founded TCMM, pursued and received all the licencing,   I then helped mentor and start Prestige Auto Sales, in the same building......Prestige is still in operation today. 2010

• Tulip City Van rental: Started it,  sold it, still in operation today. 2011

• Bought and renovated numerous vacation rental homes in the Silver Lake Area.   2012 - 2024
  *  "Sundrop"  Upper Silver Lake 2 bedroom beachfront. (sold 2020)
  *  "DuneView Resort"  3 Large homes on Silver Lake sleeping 40 people. (sold 2023)
  *  "Sable Beach Cottage"  7 bedroom, 6 bathroom home on Lake MI. (sold 2024)

• Fun Fixx Rentals LLC Renting out pontoon boats and toys to guests. (sold with DuneView Resort)

• CobiaBeach.com :  Purchased a vacant Caribbean beach front lot and built 3 rental homes on it.  Belize Central America. 2017 - present

Managing / Delegating Years:

• Started a small house church 2019 - present

• During the last few years of Silver Lake vacation rental properties, we were able to build a great team, and do very little work ourselves.

• We've also built a great team and connections in Belize that has built our 3rd rental.  A 5 bedroom home, which is now up and running.  2017 - present

• Our team also built a barn on our Belize rain forest property, we filled it with tools and tractors .  They will start developing that property soon.  2024 - present

• We bought G-Lake from the extended Genzink family. We have started a small farm on it. Including chicken, beef,  lamb, hay and garden plots to rent.  This is a 63 acre property with a 16 acre lake.  My youngest son now runs this property. 2021-present

• We've finished all the work to convert our 22,000 SQ. ft. storage building on G-Lake to "hobby barns".  Installing heavy electric for welding / compressors, along with  water and heat.  We now have mechanics, body shops, antique restoration, etc as tenants. We've more than quadrupled the rent income since taking it over.  2021 - present

• Identifying individuals unique gifts and encouraging them in that area.

• Starting, owning and operating many businesses in many locations gives me unique abilities and skills applicable to Greenmark's many locations.

• Assigning "Responsibilities" not jobs.

• Identifying unique opportunities and capitalizing on those. 

• Setting up systems and processes.

• Getting these systems and processes to function automatically.

• Setting people up for success, so that they can run with their gifts.

• Ability to set up and maintain "same or next day service".

• I have built numerous simple websites, I'm good with spreadsheets and AI (although I did NOT use any AI for this )

• Numerous years with manual labor - mechanic, construction/renovation, farm, factory production - and also with management labor - buy/sell numerous properties, vacation rental property manager, owner of my service garage.  I believe it's time to teach and inspire others to grow to their full potential

• Coached 3 of my 4 sons in rocket football for 11 years.

• Paying attention to family business:
  * Genzink Steel 2nd generation success and then failure.
  * Hoeksema John Deere (my father-in-law Jerry), their 2nd generation running it and selling it to Greenmark.
  * I learned tons from the side lines. I can bring that founding entrepreneur spirit to 2nd and 3rd generation companies or large corporations.

• Helping people feel needed, wanted and valuable in the company.

• Recognizing strengths and potential in others, knowing when to encourage and push, but also recognize when they are content. 

• I'm 50 years old, was born in Haiti to missionary parents, but I have all of my Grandpa's business genes.  We have 4 sons. I'm including their info because I believe it's important information if you're entrusting me to lead your people. 1 Timothy 3: 5: "for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?"

• Amy, my wife of 27 years is truly my best friend.  Amy runs our vacation rental business in Belize.

• Brandon (25) is currently running the framing crew for Justin Schutmaat Builders. He flipped his first home at 21, and is currently building his 3rd personal home. He was just married in June to Melissa, who is starting her career in architecture. Their first baby (my first grandchild) is due July 2026.

• Jesse (23) Purchased a 3 story commercial building overlooking the river and park in Allegan. He is renovating it to rent it out and live in it. Jesse is currently traveling the country coaching basketball camps. When home he welds while he pursues his coaching career. Jesse coaches basketball and football for Fennville and Hamilton schools.

• Nolan (20) is pursuing a financial degree at Davenport. He works at a golf course pursuing that passion during the summer.

• Lucas (18) is currently a senior at Hamilton. Lucas also manages our small family farm. Chickens, lambs, cattle, garden plot rentals, and Interchange storage (Hobby Barns).
