Jonathan Hogue has been a Ward 4 resident for 4 years and a DC resident for 10 years. Throughout his 15+ year career, Jonathan has worked alongside education, nonprofit, government, and private-sector leaders to advance policies and programs that support children, families, and the creation of equitable communities.
Jonathan began his career in the District, serving as a public school teacher for five years. His time in the classroom includes two years at Capital City Public Charter School right here in Ward 4, where he taught 8th-grade humanities to students from our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
After time in the classroom, Jonathan served in the United States Senate as an education and workforce policy advisor. He later worked with government leaders across the country as a public-sector consultant to expand childcare options for working families, improve teacher pay, and strengthen community programs addressing housing affordability for economically vulnerable residents.
Today, Jonathan runs a public-sector consulting business based in Brightwood Park. He also continues to serve local families as a member of the Board of Directors for Latin American Montessori Bilingual Public Charter School (LAMB PCS).
Jonathan holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and the Public from Xavier University and a Master of Science in Education from the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. He lives in Ward 4 with his partner.
An ANC’s primary responsibility is to be a strong voice for everyone in the community, and that is needed now more than ever. As Commissioner, I will make local government more accessible by ensuring neighbors know how to participate in ANC-related matters and have multiple ways to share their ideas and concerns. Everyone should have the opportunity to stay informed, be heard, and see themselves reflected in their local government.
Our neighborhood has made meaningful strides in improving public safety in recent years, but there is more work to do to center community-based solutions. As Commissioner, I will support the local nonprofits and community leaders who know our neighborhood best and advocate for a comprehensive approach to public safety that connects residents with the services and resources they need to keep our streets safe, welcoming, and strong for years to come.
Like many communities in Ward 4, Brightwood Park has experienced significant change in recent years. As our neighborhood continues to grow, we must ensure that longtime and new residents alike feel welcome and have a fair opportunity to live, work, and thrive here. As Commissioner, I will listen closely to residents’ needs and ensure renters have an equal voice alongside property owners and businesses. I will also champion policies that improve quality of life for every Brightwood Park resident.
