Determination of Optimal Flight Times for Aerial Thermographic Search of Landmines
The goal of this research was to discover the optimal flight times in which to operate small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) to collect viable thermal images of landmine anomalies.
I decided on this research after reading an article by John Fardoulis et al. in the Journal of Conventional Weapons Destruction. Here is his article: Proof: How Small Drones Can Find Buried Landmines in the Desert Using Airborne IR Thermography.
John was kind enough to provide me with thermographic images to analyze and tossed me a curve ball with an outlier data point. Thanks John!
