Resilient librarians: surviving to thriving

The 2022 KLA/SLA Joint Spring Conference planning committee welcomes proposals for presentations, panels, lightning talks, and posters for “Resilient Librarians: Surviving to Thriving,” to be held April 6-8 at General Butler State Resort Park!

As we continue to navigate through the pandemic and beyond, libraries have adapted existing services and resources, and have created new ways to meet the needs of our patrons. This creative approach to providing services has allowed us to not only survive but thrive and will continue to serve us in the future. This is your opportunity to share your terrific ideas with your colleagues and to learn from them as well. Options for presentations are wide-open but here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Creative programming ideas

  • Meeting the diverse needs of our patrons

  • Offering more virtual resources

  • Virtual reference/instruction/other services

  • Going above and beyond to get patrons the resources they need

  • Library/department morale

  • Access and equity

  • Planning for an uncertain future


The deadline to submit proposals is Friday, February 11th. To submit, please complete the submission form below, or use this link.


Your proposal should include:

  • Presenter(s) name

  • Institution name

  • Library name

  • Title of your presentation

  • Short (250 word) abstract

Presentations will be 50-minute formal sessions. Panels will be 50 to 75 minutes sessions and will engage at least three individuals in conversation around a common topic and allow Q&A from the audience. Lightning talks will be 15 minutes. The poster session will take place on Thursday evening during the game night social.

All accepted presenters will be required to register for the conference, but may do so at the member rate.

The 2022 Joint Spring Conference is a collaboration among the Kentucky Chapter of the Special Libraries Association, the Kentucky Association of College and Research Libraries, the Kentucky Library Association Special Libraries Roundtable, and the Kentucky Medical Library Association.
