Technical Communications Adviser

Impact

To be responsible for providing communications facilities to meet the operational needs of Excel EMS. This includes radio communications, mobile phones and pagers and a mobile command and control units and radio repeaters. To ensure that the law, licence conditions and policies are complied with across the organisation.

Expected Time Commitment:

8-10 hours per month

What you would be involved in?

  • To provide technical and purchasing advice and support to the Service Delivery Team.

  • To ensure that communications equipment owned by Excel EMS is audited annually and where required that servicing and adjustments are undertaken.

  • To authorise the maintenance, operation and disposal of communications equipment in line with policy.

  • To provide advice on the use of different radio frequencies.

  • To maintain accurate records of all communications equipment

  • To liaise with external agencies regarding effective communications e.g. NHS ambulance service, s, RAYNET etc.

  • To facilitate training and monitoring to ensure that radio operators are competent and that the law, radio licence conditions and policies are complied with.

  • To contribute to the planning and delivery of public events cover and major incident support.

  • To facilitate the provision of technical communication facilities at public events, major incidents and training events in line with agreed plans, to meet the command requirements for the event.
