About Our Troop:
In June of 1969, six fathers meet on Ninovan Road in Vienna to discuss how to prepare their boys to become community leaders while growing and enjoying time with friends and the great outdoors. Together the group formed Troop 1539.
The first Troop 1539 Boy Scout meeting was held on September 12, 1969, and has continued to help young men grow and serve their community.  The Troops' first challenge was a 20-mile hike of the C&O Canal Trail, followed by their first service project to plant a living Christmas Tree at the Vienna Community Center. By the fall of 1970, over 35 boys were active in the Troop.
Since its charter, Troop 1539 scouts have spent summers at Goshen Camp in Virginia, Camp Rodney on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, Camp Sinoquipe in Pennsylvania, Philmont High Adventure Camp in New Mexico, Sea Base in Florida, and many others.  The Scouts explore the outdoors in local adventures, build friendships, and learn life skills through canoe trips and overnight camping.  What began in 1969 continues today.
Troop 1539 is proud of all its Scouts and is proud of our 114 Eagle Scouts and their accomplishments.  We welcome you to join our distinguished alumni and join the many adventures of our current Scouts.
