Mental health has been a taboo topic for a long time and in the recent years, people have been getting more comfortable to become more vulnerable and open about their struggles. It can be difficult to speak about and be heard. This collection of work is made in a span of years and is a theme I worked with during my high school art class.

Mental Health is a portrait piece that highlights some different mental health issues. Using a mix of hand drawn and collage media, it was an attempt to depict how it can feel to be going through these issues.
Title: Thoughts... Year: 2018. Medium: Sculpture Making
Thoughts... is a piece that was made to showcase the struggles and questions that someone with mental illness asks themselves. People never see how one’s mind may overthink, or the thoughts seem like they are all over the place. This is a piece of mental health awareness.
Title: Thinking Out Loud. Year: 2019. Medium: Painting
Thinking Out Loud is a painting, made on a self-made canvas, that expresses the stigmas of mental illness and mental health. In this piece, I wanted to show how these stigmas can affect someone, to the point where they had enough. Therefore the brain is “exploding” with all the stigmas.
Title: Happiness Blooming. Year: 2019. Medium: Painting
Happiness Blooming is another painting I created to spread awareness for mental health. This piece is supposed to show how life may look beautiful on the outside and we may get everything we want, but on the inside, it still isn’t enough and not as pretty.
