Honoring the Life and Legacy of Joel Bloom (1963–1996) Beloved cantor, teacher, entertainer, artist, and advocate, Joel Bloom touched countless lives in Rochester and beyond. Thirty years after his passing, we come together to celebrate his remarkable spirit through an evening of music, memory, and joy.

Includes performances by Marina Lomazov and Joseph Rackers, Internationally Acclaimed Pianists and composer and performer Rabbi Noam Katz.

Marina Lomazov

Praised as “a diva of the piano” (Salt Lake Tribune) and “dazzling” (New York Times), Ukrainian-American pianist Marina Lomazov is known for her passionate, charismatic performances worldwide. A prizewinner at major international competitions, she has appeared with leading orchestras across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. A graduate of Juilliard and Eastman, Marina is Professor of Piano at the Eastman School of Music and Artistic Director of the Vivace Music Foundation.

Joseph Rackers

Celebrated for his “enormous power and intelligent interpretation” (Spoleto Today), pianist Joseph Rackers has performed to acclaim in concert halls across North America, Europe, and Asia. His recordings and festival appearances highlight both virtuosity and artistry. Professor of Piano at the Eastman School of Music, he is also Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Vivace International Piano Festival and a frequent collaborator in the Lomazov/Rackers Piano Duo.

Rabbi Noam Katz

Rabbi Noam Katz is one of today’s leading voices in contemporary Jewish music, bringing his joyful, soulful energy to audiences across North America, Africa, and Israel. His original compositions blend Hebrew, English, and world rhythms to inspire connection and healing. Based in Toronto as Rabbi and Dean of Jewish Living at The Leo Baeck Day School, he continues to share music rooted in Jewish unity and tikkun olam — repairing the world.

Marina Lomazov

Ms. Lomazov is Professor of Piano at the Eastman School of Music, Founder of the Southeastern Piano Festival and Artistic Director of the Vivace Music Foundation. She has served as jury member for the Cleveland International Piano Competition, American Pianists Association, Hilton Head International Piano Competition, New Orleans International Piano Competition, Eastman International Piano Competition, Minnesota International Piano Competition and served as Chair of the National Panel for the National Foundation for Advancement of the Arts, the only organization that nominates Presidential Scholars in the Arts.

Joseph Rackers, Pianist

Hailed as an “American Virtuoso” (Audiophile Audition), “enormous power and intelligent, instinctive interpretation” (Spoleto Today), and “simply dazzling” (The State), pianist Joseph Rackers has performed for enthusiastic audiences in New York, Boston, Chicago, Kiev, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Paris, Rome, Shanghai, Seoul and Washington D.C., at venues across Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Bulgaria, Ukraine and extensively throughout the United States.

Noam Katz, Musician and Rabbi

Noam Katz is a musician, composer, Rabbi, storyteller and Jewish educator that inspires Jewish and interfaith communities with his timeless melodies of peace, hope and unity.
