Contract: Self employed contractor working flexibly for 20 hours a week
Salary: £15 - £18 an hour depending on experience

About the role
The Sandwich Community Hub (Jubilee Centre) is a valued space at the heart of local life, supporting residents, community groups, and organisations across Sandwich and the surrounding area. The Centre is run by a registered charity which has eight trustees, all of them residents of Sandwich. Among the Centre’s regular hirers are the Sandwich Pantry, the Sandwich Amateur Boxing Club, various exercise and fun classes for all ages, DDC Jobs Club, East Kent Carers’ support. The Centre runs a Community Shed in its grounds and a weekly Parent and Toddlers Group.
We are seeking a proactive and community-minded Community Centre Manager to lead the day-to-day running of the Centre. Under the oversight of the Trustees of the charity, you will be the public-facing presence ensuring that the centre is welcoming, well-managed, and actively engaged with the local community and community stakeholders. You will work closely with Trustees, through reporting and some strategic development, to ensure the financial stability of the Centre.
This is a varied, hands-on role that combines operations, people management, and community development.
The Centre is governed by the Board of Trustees who direct the strategic development of the Centre. The Manager’s day to day operations are overseen by the Management Committee.

Key responsibilities
Oversee the daily operation of the Jubilee Centre, including bookings, facilities, and repairs and maintenance contractors
Manage staff (at present, one cleaner), volunteers, and casual users of the centre
Build and maintain strong relationships with local community groups, charities, volunteers and other partners such as Dover District Council, Sandwich Town Council, Kent Family Hub, Social Prescribers Network
Manage budgets and basic financial reporting
Ensure compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and licensing requirements
Promote the Centre through local outreach, social media, and website maintenance
Support and coordinate events, workshops, and activities
Act as the main point of contact for enquiries and centre users
Identify opportunities to increase usage and develop new community services
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
Experience in community centre management, facilities management, or a similar role
Strong leadership and organisational skills
Good financial and administrative ability
Excellent communication and people skills
Confidence working with a wide range of community groups
A practical, problem-solving mindset
Understanding of safeguarding and health & safety
Good social media and website maintenance skills
Up to date DBS clearance
Food safety qualification (desirable)

Shortlisting and Interviews
Candidates will be shortlisted in the week beginning July 20th. Those selected for interview will be given an opportunity to visit the Centre, accompanied by a Trustee, before interview. Interviews of short listed candidates will take place in the week beginning August 3rd, 2026.
