Performance
(Instrumental, Vocal, and Piano Accompanying)
All performance majors (whether vocal, instrumental, or piano accompanying) take a total of five courses from the menu. There are two paths through the menu, depending on whether you take Foundations (MUS 141) or not.
Path one: with Foundations (MUS 141)
Required courses (9 credits):
MUS 141 (Foundations)
MUS 241 (Diatonic & Chromatic Harmony)
MUS 252 (Analysis 1900-1950) or MUS 253 (Analysis 1950-now)
Choose two additional courses from the following (6 credits):
MUS 250 (Form and Analysis: Baroque and Classical Music)*
MUS 251 (Form and Analysis: Romantic Music)*
MUS 252 (Analysis 1900-1950)
MUS 253 (Analysis 1950-now)
MUS 254 (Form and Analysis: Popular Music)
MUS 255 (Jazz Theory and Ear Training)*
MUS 256 (Contrapuntal Techniques)*

Path two: without Foundations (MUS 141)
