If you are considering engineering at Alvernia, visit my “Prospective Students” page for what to expect, program links, and recommended next steps.
I am the Inaugural Chair of the John R. Post School of Engineering at Alvernia University, where I lead the development and growth of engineering education in Reading, Pennsylvania. I oversee four programs: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Industrial Engineering Technology and Management. My responsibilities include designing and launching new undergraduate and graduate programs, guiding programs through ABET accreditation, and developing advanced laboratory spaces that support hands-on learning and applied research. I also cultivate industry partnerships that create real-world projects and internship opportunities for students.
As an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, I teach courses such as engineering design, statics, and computer programming, with an emphasis on active learning and practical problem solving. My research connects biomechanics and machine learning, with a focus on cost-effective tools for data collection and analysis of human movement and time-series data. This work supports applications in injury prevention and health technology. I am also a strong advocate for undergraduate research and have mentored dozens of summer students from both engineering and kinesiology, supporting interdisciplinary learning and professional growth.
Beyond engineering, I serve as Chair of Academic Standards and contribute to university governance through faculty search leadership, Salary and Benefits, and Faculty Grievance Review. Previously, I contributed to launching the four-year Mechanical Engineering degree at Penn State Berks and served as a University Faculty Senator and Chair of the Academic Integrity Committee. I hold a Ph.D. in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Pennsylvania State University, along with M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering, supported by minors in Mathematics and Engineering Mechanics. I am a certified Engineer in Training.

The Biomechanics and Gait Evaluation Laboratory (BaGEL) at Penn State Berks is where students help collect and analyze human movement data for research on running, strollers, and wearable sensors. I continue to collaborate with colleagues there while building new biomechanics projects at Alvernia.
