Since March 2017, I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology of Religion at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) and since September 2021 Director of the Centre for Religion, Conflict and Globalization. Between February and June 2022, I am Research Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advaced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS).

I received my PhD in Sociology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain) in 2012 and my master in Sociology from the same university in 2008. I obtained a prize from the Catalan Sociological Association for my master thesis.

Between September 2014 and February 2017 I was research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity (Göttingen, Germany), where I also worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow in 2013. Between January and September 2014 I was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Chaire Religion, culture et société at the Université de Montréal.  Between 2007 and 2013 I worked as a doctoral student and researcher at the research unit ISOR (Research in Sociology of Religion) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Currently, I am also research associate of the Religion and Diversity Project (Dir. Lori Beaman, University of Ottawa, Canada) and the research unit ISOR - Research in Sociology of Religion (Dir. Mar Griera, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain). I am co-funder of the "Religion and Public Institutions" Research Network, member of the EUREL network and Co-editor-in-chief of New Diversities.

My main research interests are: 

In my PhD I studied the contemporary Jewish communities of Spain. I have done research on the accommodation of religious diversity in public institutions, namely prisons, hospitals and schools, and cities in Spain, Canada, Germany and France. Currently, I am finishing a comparative research project funded by the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity on the governance of religious diversity in French cities. I am also conducting research on apostasy in Spain and Argentina.
