How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
If you want a dual-use gaming headset that works wirelessly on mobile and PC and also plugs into a console, choose JLab Play Pro Gaming; if you need a wireless headset built for clear voice calls and long work meetings, choose Voistek Headset. These two look similar on a shelf, but they are aimed at completely different jobs. One is tuned for game audio and low-latency play. The other is tuned for talking.
• JLab Play Pro Gaming — biggest strength: 60ms low-latency Bluetooth 5 plus an AUX gaming cord that extends compatibility to PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles. It is the only one of the two that can go fully wired for zero-latency play.
• JLab Play Pro Gaming — biggest trade-off: The boom mic is built for in-game chat, not for professional meeting audio, and there is no USB dongle in the box for plug-and-play PC pairing.
• Voistek Headset — biggest strength: AI noise-cancelling mic designed to cut background noise, plus Bluetooth 5.3 and a USB dongle so you can run a PC and a phone at the same time.
• Voistek Headset — biggest trade-off: No 3.5mm jack at all, so it cannot connect to a console controller or any wired-only setup.
• Who JLab is for: Mobile and console gamers who want one headset for play and everyday listening, with a retractable mic that disappears when solo.
• Who Voistek is for: Remote workers, students and anyone living in Zoom, Teams or call-centre software who needs their voice to sound clean all day.
The JLab Play Pro Gaming is a gaming-first headset with a flexible connection story. Bluetooth 5 with 60ms low latency is the headline: that figure is about keeping audio and on-screen action close enough together that competitive mobile play does not feel laggy. Bluetooth multipoint lets you stay connected to two devices at once, so your phone and your PC or Mac can both be paired without constant re-pairing.
Comfort is clearly a priority: form-fit over-ear cups with Cloud Foam cushions and an adjustable headband, at 14.4 ounces. Battery life is rated up to 60 hours with a 2-hour charge time, which is generous for a headset that also runs wired. JLab backs it with a 2-year warranty.
Buy it if you split your time between mobile gaming, console sessions and casual music listening, and you want one pair to cover all three. Skip it if your main use is professional voice calls — the mic and tuning here are built around game chat, not meeting-room clarity, and there is no dongle for a guaranteed clean PC connection.
Voistek Headset: Who It's For
The Voistek Headset is the opposite kind of product. Its entire design brief is voice. The AI noise-cancelling mic is claimed to reduce up to 99% of background noise, which is the spec that matters if you take calls from a home office with a fan, a dog or a shared kitchen nearby. The mic also rotates 270°, and the ear cups swivel 180° so you can wear it on the left or right ear — a small thing that matters a lot over a full workday.
Connectivity is built for multitasking. Bluetooth 5.3 handles your phone or tablet, and the included USB dongle handles your computer, with both connected at the same time so you can switch between them without re-pairing. That is a genuinely different approach from JLab's multipoint: the dongle gives you a dedicated wireless link to the PC rather than relying on the computer's Bluetooth. There is a mute button on the headset for quick silence during meetings.
Buy it if your headset lives on your head during work hours — meetings, support calls, lectures, study sessions — and you want background noise pushed down. Skip it if you game on a console or want a wired option: there is no 3.5mm jack here, so this is wireless-only.
Side-by-Side: Which Should You Choose?
• Best for console gaming → JLab Play Pro Gaming. The included AUX cord adds PS, Xbox and Switch compatibility with zero latency.
• Best for low-latency wireless play → JLab Play Pro Gaming. 60ms Bluetooth latency is the spec that matters for competitive mobile gaming.
• Best for work calls and meetings → Voistek Headset. AI noise-cancelling mic and a mute button are aimed squarely at Zoom, Teams and support work.
• Best for PC reliability → Voistek Headset. The bundled USB dongle gives a dedicated wireless link instead of depending on your computer's Bluetooth.
• Best for battery life → JLab Play Pro Gaming on paper. Up to 60 hours versus up to 50 hours of talk time, though both recharge in about 2 hours.
• Best for switching between phone and computer → a tie, by different methods. JLab uses Bluetooth multipoint; Voistek uses Bluetooth plus a USB dongle.
• Best for a mic you can hide → JLab Play Pro Gaming. The boom retracts into the earcup when you just want music.
• Best for left- or right-ear flexibility → Voistek Headset. The 270° mic and 180° swivel cups are built for that.
• Best for anyone who needs a wired fallback → JLab Play Pro Gaming. Voistek has no headphone jack whatsoever.
In my opinion, the right answer depends entirely on which job the headset does most of the day. If you are a gamer who wants one pair for mobile, console and casual listening, I would buy the JLab Play Pro Gaming — the AUX cord and 60ms low-latency Bluetooth give it a flexibility Voistek simply does not have, and the 2-year warranty and 60-hour rating round it out.
If your headset is a work tool, I would buy the Voistek Headset. The noise-cancelling mic, USB dongle and rotatable boom are designed for exactly that, and no amount of gaming tuning makes up for a mic that keeps your voice clear on a call.
JLab Play Pro Gaming, in my opinion. Its 60ms low-latency Bluetooth, console-compatible AUX cord and retractable boom mic are all gaming-specific. Voistek has no wired option and no gaming-tuned latency figure.
You can use it wirelessly for casual PC or mobile play, but there is no 3.5mm jack, so it will not connect to a console controller. Its strengths are call clarity and long battery life rather than low-latency audio.
JLab Play Pro Gaming is rated up to 60 hours, and Voistek up to 50 hours of talk time with 500 hours standby. Both charge in roughly 2 hours, and Voistek adds fast Type-C top-ups.
I do not quote prices here — check the current price on Amazon using the buttons on this page, since both fluctuate. Value comes down to use: JLab wins for gaming and console flexibility, Voistek wins if you spend your day on calls.
