# Privacy Policy
**Effective date: August 3, 2026**
This Privacy Policy describes how the **Record** app ("the App", "we", "our") handles information when you use it. The App is developed and published by an individual developer ("the Developer").
We respect your privacy. The App is designed to work without requiring you to create an account or provide any personal information.
## 1. Information We Collect
### Information you provide
The App does **not** ask for, collect, or store any personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, phone number, or payment information.
### Microphone and audio recordings
The App requests the **microphone permission (RECORD_AUDIO)** solely to provide its core function: recording audio when you press the record button. Recordings are made **only when you explicitly start them**, and are saved **only on your device**. The Developer never receives, uploads, listens to, or has any access to your recordings. You can delete recordings at any time from within the App or your device's file manager, and they are removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
### Storage / media permissions
The App requests storage and media permissions (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, and READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older Android versions) solely to save your recordings to your device and to list and play them back inside the App. These permissions are not used to access any other files.
### Information collected automatically by third-party services
The App uses the following third-party services, which may automatically collect certain information:
- **Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK)** — used to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising ID (AAID), IP address, device information (model, OS version, language), and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted. AdMob has no access to your recordings.
- **Google Firebase Analytics** — used to understand aggregate app usage (e.g., app opens, screen views, crashes) so the Developer can improve the App. Firebase may collect device information, app usage events, and an app-instance identifier. Firebase has no access to your recordings.
- **Google Play Services** — required for the services above to function.
These services are operated by Google LLC. Their collection and use of data are governed by Google's own policies:
- Google Privacy Policy: <https://policies.google.com/privacy>
- How Google uses data from apps that use its services: <https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites>
- AdMob data practices: <https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543>
## 2. Advertising ID
The App declares the `com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID` permission, which allows the Google Mobile Ads SDK to use your device's advertising ID for advertising purposes. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization at any time in your device settings:
**Settings → Google → Ads** (or **Settings → Privacy → Ads**, depending on your device).
## 3. How We Use Information
- The microphone and storage permissions are used **only** to record, save, list, and play back audio on your device.
- Information collected by the third-party services above is used solely to display and measure advertisements (which keep the App free) and to understand aggregate usage patterns for improving the App.
The Developer does not sell your data and does not receive any personally identifiable information or any of your recordings.
## 4. Data Sharing
The Developer does not share any data with third parties, other than the automatic collection by Google services described in Section 1. Your recordings never leave your device unless you yourself share or move them. The Developer has no access to, and no ability to identify, individual users.
## 5. Data Retention and Security
- Recordings remain on your device until you delete them, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.
- Data collected by Google services is retained according to Google's retention policies.
## 6. Children's Privacy
The App is a general-audience application and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). The Developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
## 7. Your Rights
Depending on your region (e.g., GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA in California, PIPA in South Korea), you may have rights regarding your personal data, such as access, deletion, or objection to processing. Because the Developer does not collect or store personal data, most such requests relate to data held by Google; please refer to the Google resources linked above. You may also contact the Developer with any question or request.
## 8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
