Jiwoo Han is a postdoctoral research fellow at the IBS Center for Climate Physics. She completed her Ph.D. under Professor Glen MacDonald in the Department of Geography at UCLA. She holds a master's degree in Geography from Seoul National University (SNU) in South Korea and a bachelor's degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from UCLA.
Jiwoo's broad research interests lie in exploring connections between the past, present, and future. Her primary focus is on reconstructing past hydroclimate changes and understanding variability on both long and short timescales. She employs methods such as trace elements, stable isotopes, and diatom analysis. Her work has primarily involved lake sediments and cave speleothems, and she is also interested in ocean sediments.
