Prof. Xu's research interests concern the machining of fibrous composites and their stacks utilizing both experimental and numerical methodologies, and the texturing of functional surfaces for dentures. The specific research fields include but are not limited to:
Multi-scale analysis of fibrous composites machining using both experimental and numerical approaches;
Investigation addressing cutting-induced damage issues for composites and their stacks;
Numerical modeling and simualtion of multi-material machining processes;
Study on surface texturing for dentures and the development of specialized tools and fabrication processes.
