Hi, I'm Jina Kim,
an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Trinity University.
Previously, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Harvey Mudd College.
I received my PhD in Mathematics at Iowa State University under the guidance of Professor David P. Herzog with dissertation title:

Quasi-invariance for families of infinite-dimensional SDEs with degenerate noise.

I’m interested in stochastic differential equations and

in exploring their behavior using functional analysis.

I attended JMM 2025 in Seattle, MathFest 2024 in Indianapolis & MathFest 2025 in Sacramento
as a member of the MAA Project NExT Blue'24 cohort.
I gave an invited talk at JMM 2024 in San Francisco: Here is the abstract.
I also gave an invited talk at JMM 2023 in Boston: Here is the abstract.

I've served as the faculty mentor to the following Summer Undergraduate Research at Trinity University funded by Murchison Research Fellowship. Both topics integrate stochastic PDEs with applications in finance.

Summer 2024: Forecasting Agricultural Futures Contracts with Stochastic Models

I'm currently affiliated with the Mathematical Finance Program at Trinity University, where I engage in teaching Financial Mathematics and advising undergraduate students on summer research projects. My work focuses on applying stochastic processes to financial models.

Cities I’ve Lived In...

I was born in Seoul, Korea,

raised in Busan, the largest port city in South Korea,

spent 2.5 teenage years in San Diego, CA,

enjoyed most of my 20s in Seoul,

spent five years of graduate life in Ames, IA,

got my first faculty position in Claremont, CA,

and am now settling in San Antonio, TX.
