Sunny Jim's Trance Journey

This little infrequent music programme has been bobbing around for quite a few years now...

Now - I grew up in the 1960's & 70's, so my music taste veered towards the likes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Supertramp, Barclay James Harvest - & many more... But - our house has been filled with all types of music over the years & I feel lucky to have been introduced to music from the 90's & beyond, & there is some amazing music available now very different from my teenage years which I find just as enjoyable & stimulating!

I no longer believe in 'the good old days' & this also applies to my music taste. Sure - there is a great legacy from days gone by, but if you just listen to music you already know, then you'll never get to experience hearing something totally new in structure or instrument or sound. I really enjoy hearing music which makes me think - where on earth did that come from? or - I've got to hear that again!

So, I look at my musical taste as an interesting journey, knowing where I've come from & not having a clue where I'm heading, with a completely open mind on what I listen to.

'Sunny Jim's Trance Journey' has aired occasionally on various platforms over the last ten years including Chelmsford Community Radio (in it's early internet days), Chelmsford Calling World Service & Radio Emma Toc World Service via our short wave transmissions. I have received a mixed response ranging from listeners sharing my passion for new music to those who are probably somewhat bemused by my choice of songs! If you want to have a listen, some programmes are available online with players / links below...

For those who believe music created after the 70's & 80's is of no consequence then I'm happy to point out that I share my year of birth (1957) with Maxi Jazz (RIP), one of the founders of the incredible & influential 'Faithless' - an iconic dance music band from the 1990's onwards. Just proves that age is no reason to exclude new types of music...
