I met someone who’s about to disown their cat. I don’t want the cat to be homeless so after some negotiation with my parents we decided to raise it.
When it comes to raising a cat, there are some things to worry about:
Fundamental needs: food and This is simple and hard at the same time because these supplies are not difficult to access but choices still need to be made, such as wet food and dry food, which cat food is the best for the type of cat raised. For instance, some dry food bits may be too large for the cat to consume. For a while she kept vomiting out food after eating them because she couldn’t digest.
Cat litter: simple to deal with, but needs to be changed every month on average and should be cleaned frequently.
Healthcare and management: Basic carings like combing furs, cleaning eye crumbs are done once every while. Every month or two, we will send our cat to the vet for a health check and showering.
This is a long term activity that is still ongoing, we’ve been raising the cat for a year. Throughout the year I found a lot of problems I have and things I lack, the main problem is patience. A lot of time I get irritated with not just the basic caring of my cat but also its personalities and behaviors. After all, raising an animal can turn out to be unexpected and not go as planned, it’s not like you can communicate with them effectively so you need to learn to be patient and control your temper, which also reflects the importance of responsibility, especially taking care of pets.
This long term activity also made me realize the reality of owning a pet, it’s not as ideal as I expected and it’s actually more tiring and complicated. That means that it’s better to second consider an essential choice of raising a life, whether you have enough resources and budget to do it, as well as the mentality to be ready for this long term duty.
