My name is Dr. Jill Brooks Gumbs. I am a dedicated wife, mother, friend, educational leader, but first and foremost, a follower of Christ. My inner passion stems from being a servant educational leader. I thoughtfully use my ambition, knowledge, and drive for excellence to support the success of teachers, students, and school communities.
I offer an exceptional skill-set in education and have effectively served as a school principal, assistant principal, Title I coordinator, and teacher in Houston, Texas and Arkansas school districts. I have also been hired to teach graduate level educational administration courses as an Adjunct Professor. I earned my Doctor of Education degree in Educational Administration and Supervision in the Department of School Leadership from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). I also earned an Educational Specialist degree and a Master of Education degree from UALR. My Bachelor of Science degree is in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
I hold licensures for the following areas: superintendent/district administrator, building principal, curriculum administrator, English as a Second Language, and teacher. In addition, I advance my life-long learning each year by actively participating in numerous professional development trainings, including national conferences and web-based blended learning opportunities.
My professional strengths include innovative thinking and problem-solving, working beyond what is required, paying attention to detail, as well as strategic planning and data disaggregation for root-cause analysis for school turnaround reform practices. I also hold strengths in my integrity and ability to build positive, authentic relationships and partnerships with all stakeholders. My research interest includes parent involvement, educational reform, turnaround schools, teacher motivation, student motivation, and blended learning.
