Connecting People All Around the World
Jill and Jon Language Meetups are free international online language meetings. Most of these groups are conversations not lessons (unless otherwise indicated). The participants tend to be levels B1 and higher. If you don't feel comfortable speaking yet, you are welcome to join the meeting and listen, but we do ask that you introduce yourself and turn on your video so that we can know a bit about you. The meetups we currently have are French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Russian, Polish (lessons), Latin (lessons). We try to have a native speaker in every modern language. Prof. Gregory Rowe of University of Victoria teaches the Latin group. There are Facebook Messenger groups associated with each meeting. We also post the zoom links to the meetings in the Messenger groups so that you are automatically invited each time. If you would like to be added to the Messenger groups for any of the above languages, please write to jillblackston@gmail.com with your Messenger ID.
Jonathan Richardson has organized book discussion groups in Italian, French, German, and Spanish. He also runs a group that discusses works by Nobel Laureate authors, a group that discusses Proust, an intermediate/advanced level English lesson, and a poetry discussion group. In the groups, Jon assigns the reading and selects the time for the next session. If you would like to be added to any of these groups, please write to jricha10@alumni.nd.edu or jillblackston@gmail.com with your Messenger ID.
