Dr. Jie Li is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rowan University. She was an Assistant Professor with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, USA till 2019. She received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and the M.S. degree in Systems Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China, in 2003 and 2006, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago, IL, USA, in 2012. She was an application engineer at General Electric Energy Management and a research engineer at IBM China Research Lab.
Her research lies in the planning, operation, and control of power systems, with particular interests in the modeling and optimization of large-scale electricity transmission and distribution systems with a deeper penetration of distributed energy resources, large loads, electric vehicle charging stations, and microgrids. She is also an advocate for enhancing power engineering education for the Nation’s smart grid mission.
She is the recipient of the 2017 NSF Career Award and led the development of the State of New Jersey Energy Security Plan. She served as Editor for several internationally recognized journals, including the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid and the IET Renewable Power Generation.
