About Me
My name is HUANG Jianan (Vincent) and I was a PhD student in the Department of Physics and Material Science, City University of Hong Kong. After obtainning an BSc in chemistry, I changed to physics in my PhD study because I loved physics in its beauty of simplicity as well as the process of learning physics that drives me to think.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that the curiosity to the unknown is the very initial motivation of learning, and that there is always a way to explain the diverse and complicated phenomena of the world in a simple way becasue the world is logical.
As a teacher, I aim to have the students enjoy the learning by raising students' interests and appreciation to the subjects, leading them to further and independent learning of their own. I am dedicated to showing the charm and power of physics to students who was blined by the difficulties of the mathmatics involved in learning physics courses.
Career Aspirations
I aspire to discover something new that can deepen people's understanding of the universe and to invent new technologies that can improve our daily life or add value to the society.
My Research Topics/Interests/Areas of Professional Expertise
I am working on finding out the mechanism of Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering(SERS) , aiming to a quantitative control of the SERS systems in their applications of biological, chemical and medical fields.
Interests & Hobbies
Basketball, Classical Musics, Poem, Psychology, Philosophy and Chinese traditional culture.
