How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
If you want a wired headset built around clear voice calls and long work or study sessions, choose JIAMQISHI USB Headset; if you need a durable gaming headset for the Nintendo Switch family and cross-platform play, choose Nacon RIG 300.
• JIAMQISHI USB Headset — biggest strength: a unidirectional boom mic with noise cancelling, in-line volume, mic mute and speaker mute with indicator lights, plus a dual USB + 3.5mm connection for computers and phones.
• JIAMQISHI USB Headset — biggest trade-off: it's an on-ear office headset, not a gaming-first design, so its strengths are conversation and comfort rather than positional game audio.
• Nacon RIG 300 — biggest strength: a Switch 2-ready wired gaming headset with 40mm drivers, flip-to-stow mic, oversized over-ear cups and a flexible, hard-to-break headband.
• Nacon RIG 300 — biggest trade-off: it's a 3.5mm-only wired headset with a 1.2-meter cable, so there's no USB sound card and no in-line mute button beyond the inline controls.
• Pick JIAMQISHI USB Headset if you spend your day on Zoom, Skype, online classes or call-center work and want a mic that focuses on your voice.
• Pick Nacon RIG 300 if you game on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox or PlayStation and want a headset that survives being thrown in a bag.
The JIAMQISHI USB Headset (model EH01) is built for talking. Its headline feature is a unidirectional boom microphone that rotates 270°, which means you can wear the headset on your left or right ear and still position the mic close to your mouth. In my opinion, that's the single most useful thing about this headset: a uni-directional mic is designed to pick up your voice and reject background noise, which is exactly what you want in an open office, a shared kitchen table or a dorm room.
The rest of the design follows the same office-first logic. The earpads use protein memory foam with breathable materials, the headband is adjustable to fit adults and kids, and the whole thing weighs about 0.26 kg. The 40mm dynamic drivers cover a 20Hz–20,000Hz range, so music and movies will sound fine, but the tuning and the built-in audio sound card are clearly aimed at speech clarity rather than bass-heavy gaming. Connectivity is the practical part: a 3.5mm plug plus a USB in-line audio controller with a combined cable length of roughly 5 feet plus 4 feet. That gives you volume, mic mute and speaker mute buttons with indicator lights, and compatibility across PC, Mac, Chromebook, tablet, iOS, Android and consoles with an aux port. There's also a lightweight drawstring bag for carrying it between home and the office, and a 2-year warranty.
Buy it if your day is meetings, webinars, online courses, Rosetta Stone or Dragon Speaking, softphone calls, or call-center work and you want one headset that plugs into almost anything. Skip it if you mainly game competitively and want big over-ear cups, a boom you can flip away, and a cable short enough to stay out of your way — the JIAMQISHI is an on-ear headset with a long dual cable, which is a desk tool, not a couch tool.
The Nacon RIG 300 (RIG 300 PRO HN) is a wired gaming headset with a very specific identity: it's tuned and colored for the Nintendo Switch family, including Switch 2, Switch Lite and Switch OLED, and it also works with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, tablets, phones, PCs and laptops over 3.5mm. The red and blue accents are a deliberate match for the Switch 2 hardware, so if you want your headset to look like it belongs next to your console, that's the point.
On audio, it uses 40mm precision-tuned dynamic drivers with 32 ohm impedance, 111 dB sensitivity and a 20Hz–20,000Hz frequency range. That's a standard, sensible gaming spec — sensitive enough to run loud off a controller's headphone jack without an amp. Comfort is handled with oversized over-ear cups (oval earpieces) that sit around the ear rather than pressing on it, plus a cushioned headband and the brand's signature small, medium and large size adjustments so you can dial in clamping force. The mic flips up to stow for travel, and there are easy-to-reach inline mute and volume controls with a max-lock position.
The durability story is the most interesting part of the spec sheet. Nacon describes the headband as ultra strong and highly flexible, with earcups that separate from the headband when enough force is applied — a breakaway design intended to prevent snapping. It weighs 230 g, which is light for an over-ear gaming headset, and it carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty. Note that noise control here is sound isolation rather than active noise cancellation, so it blocks some outside noise passively without electronics.
Buy it if you play on a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, want one headset that also works on your Xbox or PlayStation, and you value a mic that gets out of the way and a frame that tolerates rough handling. Skip it if you need USB audio, a built-in sound card, or a mic and mute setup designed for all-day business calls — this is a gaming headset first.
• Best for voice calls and meetings → JIAMQISHI USB Headset. The unidirectional noise cancelling boom mic and dedicated mic-mute with indicator lights are purpose-built for talking.
• Best for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 gaming → Nacon RIG 300. It's explicitly built for the Switch family and ships with matching red/blue accents.
• Best for plugging into a mix of computers and phones → JIAMQISHI USB Headset. USB plus 3.5mm covers PC, Mac, Chromebook, iOS, Android and tablets with one headset.
• Best for durability → Nacon RIG 300. The flexible headband and breakaway earcup design are the more rugged approach of the two.
• Best for long work-from-home days → JIAMQISHI USB Headset. Adjustable headband, breathable memory-foam earpads and in-line controls for volume and mute.
• Best for over-ear comfort during long sessions → Nacon RIG 300. Oversized oval earcups sit around the ear instead of on it, with three size settings.
• Best for travel and storage → Nacon RIG 300. The mic flips up to stow and the 1.2-meter cable packs neatly; the JIAMQISHI's long dual cable is more of a desk fixture.
• Best for a shared household with kids and adults → JIAMQISHI USB Headset. The adjustable headband is described as fitting both adults and kids, and the 2-year warranty is the longer of the two.
If I had to pick one, I'd buy the JIAMQISHI USB Headset — but only because my work is mostly calls. In my opinion, the unidirectional noise cancelling mic, the mute indicators and the USB + 3.5mm combo make it the more flexible everyday tool, and the 2-year warranty is a real plus. If your priority is gaming on a Switch 2 with a headset that can take a beating, I'd recommend the Nacon RIG 300 instead. Both are wired 3.5mm headsets with 40mm drivers; the difference is what you do with them.
It works with PS5, PS4, Xbox One and most systems with an aux port, and the 40mm drivers cover 20Hz–20,000Hz. But it's an on-ear office headset with a speech-focused mic, so it's better for chat than for competitive positional audio.
Yes. It's a universal 3.5mm headset compatible with Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, tablets, mobile phones, PCs and laptops. You just need a 3.5mm jack.
The JIAMQISHI USB Headset lists active noise cancellation and uses a unidirectional boom mic designed to block background noise. The Nacon RIG 300 uses passive sound isolation instead — it blocks some outside noise by sealing around your ear, with no active electronics.
The JIAMQISHI USB Headset carries a 2-year warranty. The Nacon RIG 300 carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty. Neither figure tells you how long the headset will actually last, so treat it as a safety net rather than a durability score.
