The Phillies continue to pick up their activity this off-season, as they come to an agreement on a deal with RHP Joe Ross, as reported by The Athletic's Matt Gelb.
During the 2024 season with Milwaukee, Ross posted a 3.77 earned run average in ten starts. Ross struck out 66 batters while only walking 29 in his 74 innings of work.
Ross was a once highly regarded prospect in the Nationals system and even stepped in to start Game 5 of the 2019 World Series when Nationals ace Max Scherzer dealt with a back injury.
To make space on the 40-man roster, the Phillies designated pitcher Jose Cuas for assignment. Their 40-man roster currently stands at 40 players.
So far this off-season, the Phillies have signed Max Kepler, Jordan Romano, and now Joe Ross to one-year contracts. They also made the big splash yesterday by trading for P Jesus Luzardo from the Miami Marlins.
