Joc Pederson will be on the move again as he signs a 2-year, $37 million contract with the Texas Rangers, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports.
Pederson spent the 2024 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, slashing .275/.393/.515 while hitting 23 home runs and driving in 64 runs. Even though he wasn't an All-Star last season, he posted career highs in OPS, AVG, OBP, WAR, and OPS+. Pederson did not play a single inning in the outfield though this season, only serving as the Dbacks DH.
Pederson, a former two-time World Series champion, joins the 2023 World Series Champions. Pederson has a knack for coming up clutch when the lights are brighter, hitting 12 home runs in his postseason career. He has not appeared in the postseason since 2021.
This will be Pederson's 6th team in his career, previously playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, and the aforementioned Diamondbacks.
This continues a flurry of moves by Arizona. The Dbacks lost Gold Glove 1B Christian Walker to the Astros on Friday, and responded by trading for All-Star 1B Josh Naylor from the Guardians. Now, the 2023 National League Champions have another hole they have to attempt to fill.
