I am currently in a postdoctoral fellow in Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University working with Prof. Nick Sahinidis and performed visiting research with Prof. Richard D. Braatz at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I finished my Ph.D. in 2018 at Seoul National University in the lab of Prof. Won Bo Lee Lee and my first postdoctoral research at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology with Dr. Ung Lee.
My research focuses on addressing key computational challenges in the design and optimization of advanced process systems using tools from process systems engineering, machine learning, multiscale simulation, and mathematical optimization. Specific problem areas of interest include (1) autonomous discovery of non-intuitive process systems designs through artificial intelligence and multiscale simulations, and (2) conceptual design of non-traditional processes that improve sustainability in the chemical industry . The broad, long-term goal of my research is to develop process systems engineering tools that will lead to the discovery of new designs that could not be realized with existing techniques.
Here's my CV (pdf) updated: October 28, 2019.
