As I was praying in the Spirit this song began to echo forth. I enjoyed singing it to the Father in this time of togetherness in prayer and communing. I have loved the thought from Song of Solomon 6:3, I am my beloved and my beloved is mine... amen and amen

It is of the Lord's sovereignty that the Song of Songs is included in the Scriptures. However, some so-called Christians disagree with the inclusion of Song of Songs in the Bible, viewing it as a secular book, not as a sacred one. But in fact Song of Songs is the most sacred of books. In this book the seeker says, "I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine" (6:3). If we did not have Song of Songs, we probably could not have such an expression regarding our relationship with the Lord. The hymn "Loved with everlasting love" has a line in the chorus which says, "I am His, and He is mine." This is a reference to Song of Songs. To say that "I am my beloved's" does not mean that He is the Master possessing us as His servants. It means that we are His love. This relationship is not that between master and slave, but the affectionate relationship between husband and wife. Song of Songs is the most romantic book ever written. Yet this book is concerned with the loving relationship between God and His chosen people. It presents a portrait of the married life of Christ and those who love Him.

God is love and He created us out of love for everlasting friendship with Him. Being created in His image, man and women are given the vocation to love as God loves. But we are wounded and broken people and it is impossible to love as God loves. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross to save us from sin and death. He redeemed our brokenness and sent us the Holy Spirit and grace to be able to love as He does.

In the context of Jeremiah, the everlasting love God is talking about is in relationship to Israel. What is fascinating about this statement is they were not loving and committed to God in the same way he was loving and committed to them. It would be logical and sensible if God were loving a people who were loving him back with the same type of love, but overall, this was not the case with Israel. He was more like a scorned lover because they rejected his commands and did whatever they wanted. However, despite this, as we see in this verse, it was out of his everlasting love and his kindness that he drew them back to him.

Why is it so important to understand what it means that God loves you with an everlasting love? If you do not grasp this truth and allow it to be the foundation of your relationship with God, then what will your relationship be based on? If your walk with Jesus is not founded and rooted in his love for you, then all you are left with is striving to impress God and win his approval.

Thankfully, our relationship with him is not based on winning his approval, but on receiving his love. When you approach God, you are not coming to a God who hates you or wants nothing to do with you. You are coming to a God who is always reaching, ready to correct, ready to forgive, and able to restore. His arms are open wanting to embrace you, not because you deserve it, but because he loves you with an everlasting love.

I challenge you today to stop striving, and receive this love and watch as his love and kindness begin a transformation process in your heart. When you fully engage with his everlasting love, you will never be the same again.

You must love your neighbor as yourself. . . . The

resident foreigner who lives with you must be to

you as a native citizen among you; so you must

love the foreigner as yourself, because you were

foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord

your God. (Lev 19:18, 34)

Our faith in Jesus Christ was and is at the center of our marriage. As committed Christians, on Sunday mornings we worshipped together as a family. Gregory and I were baptized together in Medgar Evers pool on the campus of Garfield High School. That spiritual act that we shared was the beginning of a life committed to growing in our Christian faith together and raising our children in the fear and admonition of God. We have been abundantly blessed in return. I am looking forward to what the next thirty years will bring. My prayer for us is to keep serving the Lord together, loving and supporting each other, enjoying the world together, and seeing our children transform the world we live in. I pray the Lord will satisfy us with long life (Psalm 91:16). I love you Gregory!

Lastly, the music of our love! We have enjoyed so much music over the years. We are thankful that the Lord gave us the gift of hearing, because our relationship has been enhanced by the sound of beautiful love songs during these thirty years. Check out our list and see if any of your favorites appear.

God Loves us Unconditionally. We love with conditions attached. God loves with agape, the love described in 1 Corinthians 13. He loves us so much that He sent His Son to die on the cross for us, that we might have everlasting life. His love is not based on performance. Christ loves us so much that while we were yet sinners, He died for us.

He has loved us with an everlasting love and has drawn us nigh with his loving kindness. We love Him because He first loved us. He showed His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, He died for us. So amazing !!!!

This hymn is about putting your hope in Jesus, whose love will never let you go, and the hope we can have in eternity. We experience many loves through this life, but also the loss of love as well. Matheson lost his eyesight, his fiance, and his sister. I categorize these in my mind as love lost through death, discourse, disease, and distance. So often, this life can be seen as a series of goodbyes.

Earlier this week, I was in the midst of a discussion with another believer about accountability. We spoke of the need to to be accountable to God first, and how the fear of the Lord is the greatest deterrent to personal sin. As the conversation continued, we began to reflect upon the mercy of God, and how even with our best attempts, we still fail to be adequately holy in all our behaviors. It is during these times, we need to be particularly mindful of the everlasting love of God. Instead of allowing a momentary weakness to lead us into a permanent state of backsliding, we must realize the love of God is greater than all our sin, and once again draw near to Him.

And because he loved your fathers and chose their offspring after them and brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power, driving out before you nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is this day, know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.

In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.

John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood.

And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

As I have been in self-quarantine, there have been a few songs that have stuck with me that I would like to share. They are not hype-me-up songs, they are honestly not even happy songs, but they are beautiful pieces of art where the artist, whether they know it or not, express a strong desire for God. I wanted to share these songs because they have helped me reflect on my own desire for Christ, and even when I am in the darkest moments of my life, God is there with me. e24fc04721
