Founder

John Gallucci, Sr.

  • Started the Montville Lacrosse program in 1973 when there were only 12 teams in the entire state, and he retired from lacrosse in Montville in 2000
  • Registered 280+ wins, putting him in the top tier for wins among NJ coaches, many coming in the most competitive conference in the state

-Garden State Coach of the Year in 1977-1978 and in 1980 when Montville won the Garden State Title.

  • Started Ath-Ed Sports in 1992 at the Montville Recreation Center with the idea that NJ lacrosse had to compete more often than just the regular season if it was going to catch up with Long Island and Maryland. Games were played at night in the summer, allowing students to play lacrosse then sit in a free SAT class after
  • In 1997, he started the first Fall Ball league in NJ at Bayley Ellard HS
  • Has coached the Thunder 2016 and 2018 teams to undefeated seasons while playing some of the best club teams on the East Coast
  • Got back into coaching in 2012 when he joined the Mt. Olive coaching staff as the Defensive Coordinator. Mt. Olive won 2 consecutive conference titles, going undefeated in regulation play two years in a row
  • Retired from interscholastic competition in 2015, but will still come down to Thunder practices on occasion to work with defensemen

Rob Meyers - 2027/2028 Head Coach

  • Played lacrosse and football at Pompton Lakes H.S.
  • Two-year varsity letter winner in lacrosse and helped the team win a county championship
  • Academic Honor Roll
  • Was member of the New Jersey U13 National Festival Lacrosse team
  • Franklin Pierce University, 2017 graduate. 2 year captain, 4 year starter. NE-10 all conference rookie team. NE-10 Commissioners Honor Roll. NEILA Division II Academic All-New England Team. 2017 NEILA East-West Senior All-Star Game. Top 5 in school history in career games played. Top 10 in school history in Caused Turnovers. Top 15 in school history in career ground balls.

Ryan Cumings- 2027/2028 Assistant Coach

  • 4 year Varsity starter and a senior captain for Wayne Valley High School
  • 2x 2nd team all conference

David Gallucci- 2026/27 Head Coach

  • Was a standout lacrosse player at Montville High School, obtaining numerous All-State, All-County, and All-Area awards
  • Held the Montville High School Career scoring record for 14 years
  • He also earned All-Conference honors as a quarterback on the football team
  • He went on to play Division I lacrosse at Drexel University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems
  • After college, he was an assistant at Bayley-Ellard High School in 2003, and would become the head coach in 2004
  • Currently volunteers as a coach and as a board member of the Newton Braves Junior Lacrosse Club
  • Head coach for the NJ Freeze hockey club, as well a volunteer coach for the Roxbury Youth Ice Hockey Association
  • Currently the Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Mount Olive High School, where he has been the head coach since the inception of the program in 2005. He has quickly turned Mount Olive into a top contender in NJ, where his alumni have enjoyed lacrosse careers at the D1, D2, and D3 levels in NCAA and MCLA competition.
  • Has won conference championships in 2012, 2013, and a dual championship in 2018. Mt. Olive was a state finalist in 2018.

John Gallucci, JR.- 2026/27 Assistant Coach

  • Attended Montville High School where he set the records for most goals and most total points scored in school history that held up through 1997
  • Led NJ in scoring during the 1990 season, finishing third in his Junior year.
  • Was a 3-time All-State attackman and one of three New Jersey athletes invited to try out for Team USA’s U19 team
  • Went on to play attack for Lehigh University’s Top-25 NCAA DI lacrosse team in the early 1990’s
  • Coached for Moravian Academy High School in Bethlehem, PA, and has also coached in the Sparta, Pope John, and Mt. Olive youth lacrosse programs.
  • Has been involved with Ath-Ed & Thunder Lacrosse since its inception in 1992, and has coached Thunder Elite teams from grades 4-12
  • Is Tournament Director for Ath-Ed sports and is responsible for the Fall Finale Classic (100 teams every November) and the Lehigh Laxfest (300 teams every June)

Matt Seigel- 2025 Head Coach

  • Has extensive coaching experience, including seven years coaching youth lacrosse and 15 years coaching high school lacrosse
  • Played lacrosse at Livingston High School, Division 3 lacrosse at Montclair State College (now Montclair State University), and competitive men's league lacrosse as an adult
  • He is a member of U.S. Lacrosse and regularly attends clinics and conventions to further his coaching skills
  • A career educator, Coach Siegel has 18 years of experience in elementary and middle school health and physical education
  • Currently teaches at Randolph Middle School

Brian Collazo- 2025 Assistant Coach

  • Played lacrosse for 13 years and has been a coach for 4 years
  • Attended Misericordia University where he played LSM/defense for two years
  • Currently an assistant coach who specializes in defense

Kyle Huff - 2024 Head Coach

  • Entering his 10th year as an assistant coach at Caldwell High School
  • 4 year starter at Kean University as a midfielder, graduating in 2008
  • NJSIAA Boys Lacrosse Group I Assistant Coach of The Year

Ryan Bayley - 2024 Assistant Coach

  • Currently an assistant coach at Wayne Hills High School, where they have won back-to-back county championships
  • Added another county championship while coaching at DePaul Catholic High School
  • Also an assistant coach for Wayne Hills HS Soccer and Wayne Valley HS Basketball.
  • Has been coaching with the Thunder organization since 2011. In that time he has worked in both the high school and youth divisions as a head coach, as well as an assistant

Josh Danziger - 2023 Head Coach

  • Played his high school lacrosse starting up the Bergen Tech program as a member of their third graduating class
  • Returned to lacrosse after college as the first varsity head coach for Pequannock High School, serving in that capacity for 11 years
  • Currently the head coach for Passaic Valley High School
  • Has been coaching with Thunder since the summer of 2010

Joe Zubko - 2023 Assistant Coach

  • Played lacrosse at St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, graduating in 2002
  • Played lacrosse at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre PA
  • In 2008, Joe joined the coaching staff at Mount Olive High School as an assistant, becoming the JV head coach in 2009
  • In 2014, Coach Zubko became the head freshmen coach at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge. After 3 seasons at Ridge he returned to Mount Olive to take over as the defensive coordinator for the varsity program
  • Has been coaching with Jersey Thunder and Ath-Ed Lacrosse since 2008.

Anthony Mosca - 2022 Head Coach

Anthony Mosca returns to Jersey Thunder Lacrosse, where from 2008-2011 he was one of the Thunder Elite Varsity Head Coaches.

  • Played at both Pace and Montclair State Universities as a midfielder
  • The past several off-seasons, he has coached with various clubs, as well as Colts Elite (Kinnelon High Schools traveling team)
  • Currently an assistant coach at Newark Academy. It’s his first year there after seven seasons (2009-2013, 2016-2017) at Kinnelon High School.
  • In his first year as offensive coordinator at Kinnelon in 2009, they won the Group 1 State Championship for the first time in their history
  • 2010 Gibbs Division and Group 1 Assistant Coach of the year as he helped lead them to a Morris County Championship and overall #4 ranking in the state
  • Previous to this he was head coach at Hanover Park from 2006-2008
  • He has been coaching for over ten years at the varsity level and brings tons of experience every time he steps on the field
  • His father, Ernie, is a longtime coach at Montclair Kimberly Academy

Nick Esposito - 2021 Head Coach

  • Entering his 9th year as an assistant at Caldwell High School
  • 4-year midfielder at Kean University
  • Has coached for Thunder since 2008
  • Currently serves as the Boys Elite Director

Ben Young - 2021 Assistant Coach

  • Head Freshman coach at Randolph HS
  • In his 15th year of coaching boys lacrosse
  • Began his lacrosse career as a defenseman at Ithaca College
  • Has experience at every level including boys youth (Randolph 2004-2011) and boys HS since 2012
  • Has been with Thunder Elite since 2013
  • 2021 Recruiting Director

Matt Thompson - 2021 Assistant Coach

  • Roxbury High School class of 2010, 4 year letterman, received the Gael Award (someone who gives back to the youth program)
  • Went to Roger Williams University and played defense
  • Played at CCM and played defense and man-up offense. Two time captain and Two time 2nd team all conference. Graduated in 2016 and is continuing education at NJIT for Engineering

  • Entering 6th season coaching with Thunder

Alan Geissel- 2020 Head Coach

  • Coached 15 years of lacrosse at all levels for Boonton High School including Head Coaching a Gibbs Division Championship team
  • Spent 4 years as the varsity assistant at Mountain Lakes High School where his teams won the Morris County Championship and played in the State semi-finals two times each
  • Has also been a varsity basketball coach in both school districts including a trip to the Group II state finals
  • Since giving up high school coaching to spend more time with his family, he co-founded the Pequannock Junior Lacrosse Club where he has been an administrator and head or assistant coach at all grade levels for 15 years.
  • -Was a member of the first ever A. L. Johnson Regional Lacrosse team in Clark, NJ, and were ranked in the top 5 in the state of NJ during their inaugural season
  • Was a four year all-league player at Montclair State and served as an all-purpose midfielder who faced off and played both EMO and Man Down
  • Was a captain his senior year and is still ranked in the top 20 players at Montclair State for goals and points scored in a career
  • Played six years of post-collegiate club lacrosse in the Central Atlantic Lacrosse League. During that time he was a starting midfielder on teams that won a league championship and was also runner up. During that span he was selected to the CALL all-star team
  • Has been teaching physical education and health for 35+ years
  • Twice he has been a presenter at the United States Lacrosse Convention and has been coaching with Thunder since the summer of 2009

John O'Hara - 2020 Assistant Coach

  • Started his lacrosse career at Montclair High School graduating in 1982. Unfortunately due to a serious injury his senior season was cut short.
  • Was presented with the Norman Ball Memorial Award in 1982
  • In 1981 he appeared in the State Championship and Coaches Tournament Championship games as both a LSM and man down defender
  • In 1980 as a JV starter he was part of the JV State Championship team
  • Played at Villanova University as a captain. He was a 4 year starter: 2 years at LSM and 2 years at close defense
  • Head Coach for Montville Junior Lacrosse 2005-2018 (all youth levels)
  • Was a Volunteer Assistant Coach for Montclair High School in 1988
  • Also spent time during his college career coaching local sleep away lacrosse camps at both Princeton University and Rutgers University
  • Has been part of the Thunder family for the past 9 years
  • Has served as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach for Jersey Thunder Elite (youth and High school levels 2009-2018); being a part of and amassing over 240 wins in 9 seasons.
  • Served as the Assistant Coach/Defensive Coordinator Jersey Thunder A.L.L. Men’s Lacrosse Team for 2 seasons

Austin Geissel - Goalie Coach

  • Thunder Alum, having played from 5th grade through his senior year in HS
  • Was selected to the U13 North Jersey team that went undefeated in the national tournament in North Carolina
  • Was selected to the West Jersey Team for the New Jersey 8th Grade All-Star Festival
  • Was selected to the All Rizk Conference 2nd team twice and the 1st team once. He was also selected to the NJAC 2nd team for 3 years
  • Was selected to the Group 1 All-State 2nd team his sophomore year and the 1st team his junior and senior years.
  • Was the starting goalie for Georgian Court University (D2) his freshman year were he finished 5th in the nation in saves per game. His sophomore season saw him garner the following conference awards (first year for the CACC); 3 times defensive player of the week, 1st team all-conference, defensive player of the year, all CACC tournament 1st team and MVP as GCU won both the regular season title and conference tournament
  • Austin was ranked 1st in save percentage for all D2 goalies in the nation in 2018.
  • Named the 2017-2018 NCAA DII Statistical Champion with the nation-leading .622 save percentage.
  • Presently coaches in the HS and Youth Ath-Ed Leagues and does personal training for goalies
  • Joined the Thunder staff as the goalie coach for both the youth and HS programs.

Kyle Little - Goalie Coach

  • Played for West Milford High School and graduated in 2017
  • Currently plays D2 goalie for the University of Montevallo
