Jennifer "Jenny" Nielsen (PhD Candidate, MSc Physics, MA Philosophy) is a physicist, quantum gravity theorist, and philosopher of science.
She is the author of the Topological Unified Field Theory on the Complex Hopf Fibration, a quantum gravity theory written on the complex Hopf fibration, which is undergoing peer review.
Her dissertation, Math Over Mechanism, presents relational structuralism ("new structuralism") as a general theory of explanation in the sciences and compares to historical mechanistic approaches.
In summer 2026, she showed that OpenAI's counterexample to Connes' Rigidity Conjecture was flawed using a reductio, and using the same reductio she was able to prove Connes' conjecture.
She has a broad base of research experience including work in quantum gravity, philosophy of science, exotic propulsion, laser optics, quantum computing (for which she received an FQXi award), quantum crystallography (for which she won the SEARCH prize), and galaxy evolution (for which she holds a Chambliss medal).
With colleague Lu Semita she has addressed the Riemann hypothesis and the Navier-Stokes problem (Option C). By extending the analysis beyond the Clay problem, she developed a complete solution to Navier Stokes in complex time including a solution to turbulence and derived the laws of thermodynamics from first principles, potentially resolving what is widely considered the "holy grail" of classical physics and aerospace problems.
She has achieved PhD Candidacy at the University of Kansas and holds two master's degrees--a master of science in physics (emphasis: quantum systems, nonlocality in time) and a master of arts in philosophy (emphasis: philosophy of science)--both from the University of Kansas. She holds a bachelor of science in physics summa cum laude (highest Latin honors) with highest departmental honors from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). She has received numerous awards, grants and accolades for her work.
