I began my nursing career in 2011 at University of MS Medical Center in the Children's Emergency Department. In 2013, I transferred to the Medical ICU in order to broaden my skills by caring for adult ICU patients. I returned to the Children's Emergency Department in 2016 to the Nurse Educator role. I really enjoyed the education aspect of being the Nurse Educator in the Children's ED, which is why I chose to obtain my MSN in the Nurse Educator program at UMMC. I graduated with my Masters of Science in Nursing, magna cum laude, with a focus on nursing education in 2020. Since then I have been a part time clinical faculty for UMMC School of Nursing and most recently the Training Manager for TrustCare Health. I believe that the best way to live a full life is in the service of others, doing what you can to make a positive impact on this world.
My nursing interests include:
Emergency medicine
Pediatrics
Healthcare research
Healthcare inclusion
Nursing education
Nursing retention
My short term goal is to obtain my Certified Nurse Examiner (CNE) by December 2023.
My long term academic goals include obtaining my PhD in Nursing Education with an emphasis on nurse retention to be completed by 2030.
