About three and a half years before the return of the Lord, the Antichrist will reveal himself in a rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem. He will cause the Jewish animal sacrifices to cease. Shortly thereafter he will introduce the mark of the beast. This will involve pledging allegiance to the Anti-Christ or worshipping his image and taking a mark in the right hand or the forehead. Christians and Jews (who refuse the mark of the beast) will be viciously targeted by the government of the Antichrist. Many will be killed during this time. It will be the wrath of the Antichrist.

I do believe the 666 is a mark that unbelievers will receive during the Tribulation in order to buy and sell, the mark of the beast that will label them as unbelievers, followers of Satan instead of Christ.

Thy Antichrist Wrath Of The Beast

I am not a theologian and immersed in eschatological texts like you, but a plain reading of this text to me contributes to a schematic for the end times, which are marked by a personification of evil (an antichrist, a man of sin) who is personally destroyed at the point Jesus personally returns.

The Bible tells us that authority will be given to the beast over the earth for three-and-a-half years. For the first half of the 7 years, the antichrist will not have authority over the world, but he will lead the world by deception. During this time, he will present himself as a good leader, people will fall for this, and the world will give him their trust. This is why he will be able to build the temple and establish a false sense of peace in the world. At the three-and-a-half year mark he will reveal his true nature, proclaim himself god, and from that point, the wrath of the beast will begin.

The wrath of the beast is aimed at the church because the antichrist sees the church as an enemy; an imminent threat. Antichrist means against Christ! And who is Christ today on the earth other than His Bride, the true Church. So the antichrist will come in power against the church for three-and-a-half years during the Great Tribulation.

Anytime towards the end of that time of Great Tribulation (wrath of the beast), the church will be raptured, and these are the events described in the Bible that will lead up to the rapture of the church.

The church needs to be raptured so that the wrath of the Lamb can begin. God will not judge the world with His people still in the world: He will take His people out first. And this is what we call the rapture. The people who have not bowed to the beast and who have not worshipped his image, will be taken. To prove to us that the church is indeed raptured and not on earth anymore, the Bible shows us the church in Heaven.

Something else that must happen before the wrath of the Lamb begins is the sealing of the remnant of Israel. When the church is raptured, the nation of Israel will not be raptured: they will be on earth. But God declares that before He pours out His wrath, He will seal a remnant among the people of Israel: 144 000.

A moment of silence is often viewed as a gesture of respect and honour. In the time between the rapture and the wrath of the Lamb, heaven goes completely quiet[3] for about half an hour. This silence signifies the gravity of the situation: it is a solemn and holy moment in heaven! The whole of heaven comes to a standstill, waiting in anticipation for the Lamb to act, knowing that Jesus is about to stand up and enter judgement with His enemies.

These are all great events that God is going to call into being on earth to show His might and His power. The wrath of the Lamb against the false church is described in detail in Revelation 14, 15, 16 and 18.

At the finality of the wrath of the Lamb, the antichrist will rally his troops to fight against Israel, and Jesus will return with the church, and the sword coming out of the mouth of Jesus will defeat the antichrist.

When the false prophet and the antichrist are finished with the false church, they themselves will destroy her, and then Jesus will destroy the false prophet and the antichrist in the battle of Armageddon.

Satan will be bound and locked away for a thousand years after the battle of Armageddon where Jesus defeats the false prophet and the antichrist. Jesus, having returned with the saints, will establish His kingdom and reign here on earth for a thousand years. His capital will be Jerusalem, and people will go and worship Him there. When Jesus reigns in Jerusalem, this song in Isaiah will come to pass:

Revelation 20:9b-10 New International Version (NIV)

9bBut fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The second last event is the judgement at the great white throne. The first resurrection was at the rapture; the second resurrection is at the great white throne. Those who are dead without Christ will now rise to be judged at the white throne. Having being judged, if their name is not found in the book of life, they will be thrown into the lake of fire. So hell is not the final destination for those who do not know Christ. The final destination is called the lake of fire. Hell itself will be thrown into this lake of fire along with Satan, the false prophet, the beast, and all those whose names are not written in the book of life.

The seven bowls (Greek: , phialas (acc. pl.), nom. sing. , phial; also translated as cups or vials) are a set of plagues mentioned in Revelation 16.[1] They are recorded as apocalyptic events that were seen in the vision of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, by John of Patmos. Seven angels are given seven bowls of God's wrath, each consisting of judgements full of the wrath of God.[2][3] These seven bowls of God's wrath are poured out on the wicked and the followers of the Antichrist[4] after the sounding of the seven trumpets.[5]

The sixth bowl is poured out upon the river Euphrates. The river dries up to allow "the kings of the east" to cross. Three unclean spirits with the appearance of frogs come, one each, out of the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. These spirits, referred to as unclean (meaning unfit for consumption in Biblical literature), work miracles to gather the nations of the world to battle against the forces of good during the Battle of Armageddon. The vision is interrupted by a voice that says "Behold, I am coming like a thief", and urges believers to stay alert.[11]

At first glance, this argument has a ring of plausibility to it, which is why it convinces many. But the argument contains a fatal error. Treating the antichrist in this manner is blatant dualism that tramples on the sovereignty of God. What these opposers of the pretribulation rapture need to understand is that God frequently uses fallen men and angels to do his bidding. In every instance where he does so, the event is legitimately traced to both the fallen beings and to Himself. The fallen agents have unholy motives. God has holy motives. The fallen agents intend evil. God intends good.

Further describing the mark, John notes that it will consist of either the name of the beast or the number of his name. Antichrist will have a universal designation, his name within a numbering system. The exact identification of that phrase is unclear. What is clear is that everyone will be required to have the identifying mark or suffer the consequences.

The question we are concerned with is when does the mark of the beast occur? The answer is that the mark of the beast will occur during the tribulation. But when and where in the tribulation will the mark of the beast occur? What follows is an explanation of the future timeline and the mark of the beast.

The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come. (Revelation 17:8)

And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh. (Revelation 19:19-21)

I live in South Africa and discovered A Testimony Of Jesus Christa. I want to thank you for writing this magnificent work to the glory of God. It is by far the best commentary on Revelation and I read it regularly. I also appreciate your apologetic approach to the pre-wrath view and I have to study this view very carefully because the proponents of this view are gaining ground rapidly here. I also need more information on this heresy. I can imagine that your are very busy, but if it is possible, I would like some further answers on some issues.

The arguments for the pre-wrath view and the wrath of God is clear to me. Rev. 6:16-17 proves beyond doubt that the seals is the wrath of the Lamb, compared to 1 Thess. 5 and Paul's view of God's wrath. Would you say that this is one of the strongest arguments to prove that the church will not be in the tribulation?

I also think that Rev. 9:4 is refuting any sort of rapture after Rev. 6:1 - all people, except those who are sealed, will be punished. I could never imagine that God will protect the 144.000 Jews but let the church suffer. If you have more information on the mid-trib and pre-wrath views, please forward it to me. be457b7860
