Summary: Drs. Sharon Antonucci, Gabriella Vigliocco, and Anna Krason are seeking an intern to assist with coding videos of connected speech data with people with aphasia, which is an acquired neurologic language impairment that most commonly results from stroke to the left hemisphere of the brain. Hallmark features of aphasia include difficulty with word retrieval and, in some cases, difficulty with word production and comprehension. Aphasia also has psychosocial consequences, which can include loss of friendships and social isolation. Coding will involve analysis of multi-modal communication, specifically the use of gestures as part of communication. The appropriate candidate will need to complete CITI certification to be added to the IRB protocol, as well as training in the gestural coding schema. 8-10 hours of work per week will be required for a full semester, to be done in Dr. Antonucci's lab at the Jefferson Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute in Elkins Park, PA.
Time: 8-10 hours per week for each semester
