Ranch Restaurant
The Ranch’s long and colorful history began in 1948. The Ranch was built with the wood of a pilfered train trestle from near Sacramento. In the early years, Hayward’s movers and shakers gathered at The Ranch because of its proximity to old City Hall.
Local ranchers and farmers donated many of the antiques and memorabilia on display for many years - from rusted tools, to lanterns, to cow pictures, wheels, a deer head, and even an Olympic torch from 1984.
The Ranch Restaurant has since closed, its last hurrah being New Year's Eve 2019. The restaurant with the iconic bull sign that adorned it is another grand landmark of Hayward that is no more.
This interpretation is an homage to Andy Warhol, a fellow Pittsburger, and uses the same colors he used in his poster of Che Guavara.
