Practice Software . I created this software to help you learn the intuition behind the concepts we will see in class. Although you are not graded for using the software, it is a good way to learn more about economics and to prepare for the exams.
Graded Material
Problem set 1 . In this problem set, you will take the role of economists in a large company to help the board decide what actions to take. You will, then, take the role of economists at the Department of Energy to analyze and convey the result of your analysis of the gasoline market.
Problem set 2 . In this problem set, you will take the role of economists at the Department of Health and Human Services. Through various economic tools, you will propose and analyze ways in which the government could curb the consumption of sugary drinks in the US population.
Problem set 3 . You task in this problem set is to measure and analyze the impact of externalities on the markets for combustion and electric cars.
Problem set 4 . In this last problem set, you will analyze the effect of different competitive structure on the quantities produced and on prices. You will also measure how they affect the welfare of consumers and the profit of firms.
Take home exam. In this exam, you will use what you learned in this class to analyze and explain the behavior of different agents in the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
