Course Description : This course covers the breadth of calculus from theory to practice. It includes the real number system, limits, derivatives, integrals, ordinary differential equations, numerical analysis, and mathematical modelling. This course culminates by writing a paper which proposes, solves, and analyzes a novel model of a real-world biological system.
Course Learning Outcomes : At the end of the semester, the students should be able to:
Construct the real number system.
Differentiate and integrate functions.
Solve ordinary differential equations using analytical and numerical methods.
Model biological systems using ODEs.
Schedule : Sundays 12:00pm - 4:00pm; via Zoom
Requirements :
Attendance - student should be present in at least 75% of the synchronous meetings.
Exercises, quizzes, and exams - passing score for all written works is 75%.
Final paper - each student should write a paper which proposes, solves, and analyzes a model of a real-world biological system.
Paper presentation - each student should be able to present their paper to the class.
Grade Computation :
Exercises - 10%
Paper presentation - 20%
Quizzes - 30%
Final paper - 40%
